Is the LX500 the same basically? I’m debating whether to just get rid of the old girl and buy a new one, but the prices for new are insane

Pretty much the same. Bigger cutting width on yours I believe

Just undo the fuel cap, place a plastic bag over it, then replace fuel cap = no fuel leaks.

im in process of doing this same thing to my lx500, wondering though if its normal for the belt to seem a bit loose & not snug, or tight ? I did triple check the part & it is correct. Im going by other tutorial instead of the lx500, because there isnt any . so just wondering if the belt having play is normal.?

A little loose is ok. If the belt is stretched too far, you will lose drive.

We got a 90" belt for ours (91" is the correct length but 91" proved to be unusable on our specific LX420) and even with all the adjustment in the linkage taken up it barely engages and drives. Hopefully yours is doing better than ours, lol. Thank you to @buildgrowplay for the solid video as it greatly helped with verifying we've routed the belt correctly. Ours has a different engine and so I guess its possible the position of the drive shaft is slightly different or the pulley might be smaller diameter than the original. I'm pretty sure we have the original pulley stack but I could be wrong.

Didn't you have to drain the oil before you turned it on it's side ?
@buildgrowplay

No. It should be fine. Is great to have an empty fuel tank, but the spillage isn't bad if it's on its right side

How do you adjust the drive belt?
@buildgrowplay

The belts are tensioned by idler wheels with springs. Perhaps you have lost a sping

The new belt I put on 1 year aging was slipping down hill I dropped the deck and found the belt had slices in it but was not broken. I ordered a Kevlar belt I’ll get it tomorrow. See it’s a better belt thanks for responding

Ok a new drive belt and the same thing is happening 🙄. It’s as if it’s not if forward gear when it is.. when im going down hill. I also hear a clicking. That increases with the speed I go down hill. On level ground I have forward n reverse no problem any ideas🤔

@relieddie1 I had to retire mine 4 months ago because it broke the diff. It started with an intermittent Click. Perhaps this is happening to you. It may have also broken a cotter pin on one of your pulleys

wrong video, and stop blaming others for your ignorance, the name of video doesn't say a dam thing about blades, you probably should take yours to a professional, attempting it on your own will probably cause pregnancy

My drive belt slipped off while mowing. Had to re-install it in the field. Talk about a PITA. The belts are shit, the pulleys are shit, the pulley guides are shit... It's like the entire mower is meant to be disposable. I replaced mine without removing any pulleys and with mowing deck in place but lowered. By the way, when you work on cars do you tip them over like this too?
