Playing around or generally being a bit of a hooligan on your bike is underrated. it's not just for bored teenagers. Riding is the most fun for sure, but playing around with tricks like this, is how you progress.
@SkillsWithPhil
7 жыл бұрын
100% agreed. That's why kids are such good riders, they are bored, and they go outside and dork around without reason. As adults we get into this mindset that we need a reason to go ride, and that dorking around is a waste of time.

Bruce Gudmundsson my son(5) is starting to get to the point where he wants to start "playing around" riding little skinnies and jumps. I have more fun riding with him lately than hitting the trail by myself.
@Bjoggi308

Awesome Eamon. When my boys were younger we would play around like that all the time because they did not have the stamina, or desire for that matter, to ride trail. So playing games like that is what we ended up doing most of the time. Some of my best memories and a time when my skill advanced the most.

The "Seated Sideways bars Feet on wheel" thing is actually called a "tracksit" kinda like a track stand but sitting on your saddle, sometimes on top of your stem, or handle bar. Its a common trick for fixie riders.

Jordan Keeler its not hard, just endo, then rock back onto your back wheel and start hopping around. Me and my two friends do this all the time and we are all between 12 and 16, and we all have beginner/ intermediate hardtails

The back wheel hop and endo are more then tricks, they are useful skills. They are 2 of the handful of basic skills required for trials. Turning endos can be used on the trails too.
@SkillsWithPhil
7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Most mountain bikers won't need those skills on a regular basis (unlike trials), that's why I'm considering them tricks in this context. There's definitely a gray area with some skills that blur the line between trick and a skill.

So learning the nolly before learning the nose bonk is super helpful. If you watch close, getting out of the nose bonk is the same as a nolly. Learning to push down and forward on the bars and getting the back wheel higher will make nose bonks so much more doable and fun! It's funny because in an American bunnyhop you lift the bars and push forward and doing a nolly you push down and forward.........right before you lift the front wheel. It's one of my favorite tricks I used to do on my BMX bike all the time. It's been awhile and this is a reminder that I need to relearn it on a mountain bike....🙂

Nice tutorial. FYI in BMX it's often called a fakie rollout. It's considered good form to rollout the same direction you would spin. Usually if you ride right foot forward you spin left and vice versa. For example if you spin left 180 you would rollout left (or half cab/full cab).

I had the exact same problem, until today. Granted I did not get much hight but I think it will improve with practice. Ride along slow somewhere flat, your hands on the bars are one end of the brace, your feet on the peddles are the other. Think of it as if you are trying to press them apart, while bringing your weight forward and your feet up so they are at the same height (although I did not get close to that lol). My problem was I could never figure out what to press against with my feet to rase the back, turns out it was the whole body against the bars

180 jump. An extension of bunny hop. From a roll unstabalize your steering by a short left hard right (or short right hard left) And then do the bunny hop while looking the direction you need to go. On landing you will need to back pedal because of the forward momentum. Harder version of this is doing it onto an object.
