What kind of truck is it Kipp? For a stealthy car you’d need a non aggressively looking cute car like Christine’s blue kia sportage. Presentable and clean looking helps alot too. Sorry for stereotyping but pickup trucks are intimidating to me so much less stealth value there :)

nice set up! my backup, now primary due to fuel costs, go rig is my trailblazer.. I use towels as curtains for the back windows, they hang on a cord I strung between 2 curtain hooks slipped in the trim. I found the single brew coffee bags when my late wife was in the hospital (hospital coffee is atrocious) I use the folgers all the time now, depending on how long you let it seep it can be very rich and thick. Im able to use a homemade immersion heater for my coffee. you can put 2 bags in a pint jar of water overnight for iced coffee .. I reuse plastic bottles from small water bottles to gallon jugs to slip water in small spots, the small bottles are convenient for washing hands, face, feet etc and keeps my filtered water for drinking and cooking.. Ive never seen a pepper spray like that... a couple knitting needles stuck in a ball of yarn are good self defense tools, both my daughters carry them but only one knits... thanks for the tour!

Little tip, you can glue those pieces together, to avoid any cracks while sleeping. (I have a tendency to wind up in those cracks, so I recognise a problem) It's also possible to sow the covers together, for an easy folding solution. (if you aren't bothered by cracks) 😉

Very interesting, I like your videos and your style! I just wanted to answer your last comment with the suggestion of a mini van ... and now I see one. =) It's a bit curious to me that you use the Kia because of stealth reasons because where I live (Germany) it's not uncommon to see these Mini Camper Vans every once and a while in every city! Sometimes it's the car from delivery guys during the day, some craftsmen use it to transport their tools, some family use them because they are spacious ... so in German cities you would not draw as much attention with one of these parked down the road! You know there are much bigger vans or transporters (VW Sprinter) that are also not uncommon for craftsmen and repairmen, but with additional windows or even an small "camping window" (mounted in the roof) they are recognizable for the people who are interested in campers at least. But: since the first lockdowns because of Covid Campers, Vans, self-build Campers and every sort of those went through a real hype since people could not easily fly into holidays but had to stay in Germany and discovered camping and short trips for them self again. Self-build campers were also a hype of it's own before, but since 2020 they can be seen everywhere, even big VW Sprinter or Ducato ones, also in residential areas. (And they are overpriced too, if you can get one! Even 20 year old ones!) So when there is no light to be seen at the evenings nobody would really care here if they see a mini van or a Sprinter! That's why I like your videos: for me it's another look into the perception of stealth camping in the US as well of your every day live! I assume your relatively "small" height benefits you too with sleeping in your car. Since I'm about 5 foot 10 I think I need at least a small Camper Van (a Ford Nugget XL would be nice!) but since prices exploded here it's not cheap as a second car. But I would do it similar to you: make it simple, stay inconspicuous ... and in my case I would do short trips into cities and regions across Europe without having to rent a room every night. I like the details you put into the Kia and your idea of being even more stealthy than with a (small) Van! But one hint I would give you if I may: It does not look right or safe to use the camping stove in the car. Please don't do it! Since you already have a immersion heater: there are small Kettle/ water heater for maybe half a liter available! I saw them also for the 12V energy port (cigarette lighter port). I thought about buy one of them for my adventure motorbike since the size is small enough and it's a quick way to boil water, ever when camping with a tent and a motorbike. The only downside "could" be that if your battery is low and you're making like a soup in the evening and two coffee in the morning that your battery gets too low. But for this case you already have your jump starter available, which is perfect! But it wont be a problem if you drive long enough so that the battery has time to charge... But sorry for the wall of text ... I think it's nice to exchange some thoughts! Now I'm curious about your Ford Transit Connect video i already spottet. Thanks for the fish, "Auf Wiedersehen" and let it be well with you! =)

Hi Hasso! I think it would be awesome to travel around Europe! I'm 5'7" and am comfortable in the Kia but I don't mind tight spaces :) I did not feel safe using the stove in the car so I don't do that anymore. I bought an electric kettle to boil water for coffee in the morning and it's working much better! Thank you very much for watching and commenting! 😃🙏🏼

I think it defeats the object of having a van you have converted. That's why I think it is important you think more before jumping into things that appear good, as it may not be practical. I had a little Cheverlot Spark where I began car camping in. Never really thought to car camp until my tent got flooded out during a storm in the UK. The car was my emergency set up, after that experience I made my tiny car work after tenting a lot,. Fell in love with it. Although space was minimal it worked. I just upgraded my small Cheverlot Spark for a different vehicle that is a blessing in disguise. I originally wanted a Van but it wasn't practical after searching and how everything has risen cost of living etc. So my new car that is brilliant and looks like a van. Gives me loads of space, I can sleep fully stretched out. All my camp gear has come in handy and doing a big spend with a Jackery. Day 4 in New car, and is the best purchase I have ever made. I came very close to buying a van but it didn't feel right with practicality. I've searched for vans and car options for 3 years not quite knowing what would be ideal until I accidentally came across my new car as possible option. Do your research I would say as two vehicles might not be necessary and one could be money down the drain if you don't want to use it a lot for the purpose intended. Great video that makes people aware a van may not be ideal, even if this was not your intention. It is important, folks do your research don't just follow others on KZitem selling the dream. The dream needs to work for you with Van or Car camping.

You are totally right about there not being a one size fits all for vehicles! It is tempting to make emotional decisions but doing research and being logical is always a better idea! 🙂

@@ChristineMeachum 100% I think your video helped me further to know I made the best decision for me. As before I was very, very Van emotional. It had to be a van no matter what, until I realised it wasn't rational for me having a car and van or affordable. Also worry of where to park it. I just made a small purchase for a sunlounger cushion to use as a bed as camp mats not working alone in there for comfort. Collect bed tomorrow and out on the road car camping again. I really love the freedom car and van camping gives you. It has done wonders for me since my mum recently died. It's people like you that keep me going with exploring and doing adventures. A reliable car or van is definitely needed though. STAY blessed. I look forward to your next post. 🇬🇧 female solo fellow car camper

@@kyle998cc Oh bless you and thank you. Since that post my beloved car upgrade turned put to be a lemon as people say. Engine was no good, I got my full money back and upgraded to a large SUV. It feels smaller though, with there being no Panoramic roof and the cabin is not as box like in shape like the c3 picasso so my camp space is now very different. I have not camped in this vehicle yet as have only just got replacement. I have had to give away and rearrange some things to accommodate my new space with car camping. I am back to a minimal feel, but I do feel it is better with less clutter, similar to when I was in the Spark, although more roomy. Planning to do a winter camp soon. Stay blessed and safe. I hope you get out and about too with car camping if you don't already. It is a blast. 🤗 🇬🇧 female solo camper.

I'm so impressed by your drive and thrive attitude, it's engaging and charming! Your up beat European thinking of life enjoy it all or what's the point. You work really hard ,but enjoy life while doing it. It doesn't get any better than that. My son thinks your tigger you bouncy all the time ! He is concerned about your safety ,he's protective ,but loves the way your confidence keeps you from being taken advantage of. But he mentioned how much fun it would be to live and work like that but he'd want to share it with someone. I guess I raised him to not need others but enjoy others so he'd not do it alone , and says how strong a woman she is. I'M twice his age and I see a young strong willled young lady, is confused about her life and future, but has a great time in the now. And she seems content ,however I see hervas a granddaughter, so I'm going to worry and fret and I'd be getting her a place to live! But she's learning and growing and happy, she will find sooner then later what suits her best,, bless her in everythingbshe does
