Your off to a good start. Best advise is to get a log book and take detailed notes you will be glad when you make that perfect batch and you saved the recipe

I don’t know what your start density is supposed to be but if your hydrometer is bobbing like that it means your over the density that it can read. Also if you get a graduated cylinder it will make checking your density sooo much easier!

Here is a link to my video of running my still. It is not this batch but the process is identical. Enjoy! kzitem.info/news/bejne/q2-E1KejgJV-i34

Proof and tralle is for your distilled product. It will tell you the proof and percentage of your alcohol. You need a Specific gravity Hydrometer to measure your starting gravity and final gravity of your Mash/Beer/Wash to find the ABV. Your Brandy there is 60% or 120 Proof

Thank you, I didn't know that there were different types for different stages. 120 proof for the brandy is pretty good though and that's been cut a little to taste.

Yeah still it is more if you want to learn how to build,mix and how to get aroma and stuff. Barley and hop is more scientific explanation but both chanels are great and both guy teach us alot about distilling so keep on distillin and keep on the good work buddy

You can use regular bread yeast but your alcohol percentage will be higher with a distilling yeast as shown.

And i would say you should peel the skin off the fruit if its a fruit that has skin i heard it bitters the taste
@outofworkbum
4 жыл бұрын
I was wondering that as well. I peel my apples but the skin is so thin on these that I was thinking along the lines of grapes. I guess we'll find out, if its bitter I can always turn it into a pear pie spin on apple pie. As for proof, I didn't have a number in mind. The brandy shown came in at 120 proof after being slightly cut to taste so it may have been 130-140 proof before. I dont want it so hot that people get scared to drink it..haha

@@outofworkbum Yeast grows naturally on the skins - so IF you pick directly from the tree - you can use the yeast of the skin ... IF you buy or pick apples off the ground - you need to skin them , cook & kill any bacteria or yeasts ; as any naturally occurring yeasts will kill any yeast you add.

That's a "PROOFING" hydrometer..... you need the "POTENTIAL ALCOHOL " hydrometer for fermentation.

Hey Brother,, I'm in NH. Near Concord. Drop me a line if you need any help with your " technique ". I can see a few things that I can help you with and always willing to help someone else with some of the " technical " details so to speak. I know that you posted this a while ago, but that you responded to another poster within the last week or so. Best to you my friend. --den Oh, PS. Also into metal detecting as I see from another video that you are as well.
