apple does a great job of making every tiny problem seem unfixable if you don’t spent 500€ on a simple repair at an apple store. seriously, i recently replaced the main camera on my old iphone and it was dead simple, but apple had to make it harder by adding apple-exclusice screws. that’s usually enough to get people to give up and get it repaired by apple (or, at that price, just buy a new product). luckily, some of that’s gonna change soon with that new EU bill but i’m sure they will find at least one loophole.

We had a guy who did repairs, but he just had set prices, as 95% of the time it was memory chip, and as they were socketed, he'd just have to move along the ram chips just pulling them out and replacing with a know good chip 'till he found the bad one. It would take him a few minutes to fix most issues. And the more complex expensive repairs, he was able to do at the same fixed rate because of all the simple repairs. I always felt that was pretty cool, the day to day repairs made it possible to be able to fix the out of the ordinary stuff.

Your daughter doesn’t need an ipad you are a bad parent. Plain and simple, spend time with your child or the state will raise her and they will do horrible things to her.

Bro, you saved him having to wait about 20 working days for it to be returned. Good job! 🤣

Where was the tip. I’m not one that thinks everyone should be tipped but when someone does something for free, that you couldn’t then a little appreciation is due.

As a senior electronics mainteneince engineer I give you a serious advice: NEVER USE METAL TOOL when tinkering the charging port. I use wooden tootpick.

If you have a precision screw driver set, use the smallest flat head it has. It will fit easily in the port and get those lightning tips out with ease. I have removed hundreds of these pieces as a technician.

When I was a tech that is what I would call a 'no charger', as in 'what do I owe you for that?' "Nothing. Have a good day."

The customer said "thats why i always use you guys". Hes a long term customer, thats far more valuable than the $5 he'd reasonably charge for a 2 minute fix.

I worked at a game store. I would always do services like this for people even though they didn't offer repairs. When I departed, they couldn't understand why so much business left with me.
