Today we are going to make another British classic Dessert Rhubarb Crumble. This is so easy to make and the combination of soft tart Rhubarb combined with the sweet crunchy Crumble makes this the perfect dessert to have when Rhubarb is in season. Thanks for watching.
Ingredients/recipe
Crunchy oat crumble ( I use this in the video)
150g Oats
150g Plain Flour
160g Brown Sugar
Pinch of salt
190g Butter
450g Rhubarb
Zest of 1 orange
1 tsp cinnamon
1-2 tbsp flour
Tips.
You can make the crumble ahead of time. Keep it in the fridge as you would like to keep the butter cold before cooking.
Cut up Rhubarb and sprinkle some flour over the top to help thicken up some of the water. Flavour with some Orange and cinnamon.
*I don’t add any sugar to the rhubarb. The crumble is sweet enough and this will balance out the tartness of the Rhubarb.
Oven temperature 180C for about 30-35min until golden brown on top.
Serve it with Custard, cream or Ice cream. It can be eaten hot or cold.
Traditional Crumble recipe
230g Flour
110g Sugar (mix 100g light brown sugar 10g Dark sugar)
170g Butter (unsalted)
Pinch of salt ** Optional extra -1 tsp vanilla powder/essence - I personally prefer without, as the custard has this in.
