Love you and your art and spirit. Will definitely try this. Thank you for sharing your talent and teaching to someone like me who would have hard time finding a teacher of your talent and expertise nearby. Love your husband too! Please never stop.

I have several questions, and not all are related to this specific video. I hope that's ok. First of all, I do some kind of art every day, but I am new-ish at acrylic on canvas. Several years ago, I had to have a series of hand surgeries due to some defects in my tendons causing the fluid sheath around them to rupture (and my warranty had just run out, go figure). I was unable to use my hands for months, so there was no artwork. I was in despair, to say the least. I stumbled upon a video of yours, and it was like magic! All my mirror neurons were firing and had me feeling like I was painting with you. It was beyond satisfying, as though my thirsty soul finally got plunged into a much needed pool of water. Thank you for that! About a year ago, an art gallery owner saw my work on Facebook and contacted me about showcasing my work. Most of my stuff is done in a series of multimedia sketchbooks, so they are really tiny. I was asked if I could reproduce them onto canvas so they could be shown more professionally. I am in the process of doing that now. One of the pieces I am working on right now is a sunset behind city buildings as viewed through a rainy window (I promise I'll come up with a better title, lol). I have figured out how to blur the buildings to make them out of focus and push them to the background, bit I can't seem to do the same with the sunset so it isn't necessarily the focal point, the rain on the window is. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, do you seal up/varnish your finished paintings, and, if so, what do you use? I would also like to see how to frame a 1/2" deep canvas and how to box/package the painting for shipping. Painting for someone else to view is not nearly as zen as doing or for my own pleasure (AT ALL!). When doing it for myself, my self-talk is intentionally very nurturing so as to feed myself what I didn't receive in my formative years. Now that I'm doing it to show and hopefully sell, my OCD is kicking my butt and I find more and more harsh criticism creeping in. I feel like there was more I wanted to ask you, but it's not coming to mind l, and I've written a whole freaking book here already. Oh, and I also wanted to tell you that I love love love your fun hair colors! My hair is really dark, and color doesn't show up well. Otherwise, I would rock cotton candy colors every day of the week, too. You are my spirit animal, so keep being awesomely you. ~~ Beth

Of course, it's okay to ask multiple questions! I'm glad to hear that you've found inspiration in my videos and that they've helped you during difficult times. As for your questions, I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability: Blurring the Sunset: To blur the sunset in the background of your painting, you can use a technique called "softening". This involves using a dry brush or a soft blending brush to gently blend and soften the edges of the sunset. You can also use glazing techniques to tone down the colors and create a hazy effect. Sealing/Varnishing Finished Paintings: Yes, I do recommend sealing or varnishing finished paintings to protect them from dust, dirt, and other environmental factors. There are many varnishes available in the market that you can use, such as spray-on varnishes, brush-on varnishes, and resin. The choice of varnish depends on your personal preference and the type of painting you've created. Framing a 1/2" Deep Canvas: To frame a 1/2" deep canvas, you can use a floater frame. These frames allow the canvas to "float" inside the frame, creating a modern and elegant look. You can find floater frames in art supply stores or online. Packaging Paintings for Shipping: When Acrylic packaging paintings for shipping, it's important to use protective materials such as Glassine to prevent the painting from getting damaged during transit.Finished with sturdy cardboard boxes or shipping tubes to pack the painting securely. Make sure to label the package as "fragile" and use a shipping service that provides insurance for valuable items. Shipping in cold weather prevents many damage issues for acrylic as the paint film will be harder in warm this articles covers EVERYTHING its awesome justpaint.org/safe-handling-and-transportation-of-acrylic-paintings/ I'm sorry to hear that your self-talk has become more critical as you prepare to show your work. It's natural to feel anxious when sharing your art with others, but it's important to remember that art is subjective and everyone has different tastes. Try to focus on the positive feedback you receive and use any constructive criticism as a learning opportunity to improve your skills. Thank you for your kind words about my hair! I'm glad that my videos have inspired you and I wish you all the best with your art journey.

Ok, I did a glaze over everything and it did the trick! Yay! It also really unified the whole painting. Where do I get info on the painting retreat this fall?

I know you are doing your best and teach all the techniques with such sophistication...but I'm literally a beginner ( I started, even thinking about painting in last year June). I tried this painting with acrylic colors which was epic fail I couldn't get colors blended properly. Then I tried it with poster colours ( tempera paints) then I was almost able to do it (couldn't get the water part right). Is it too soon for me to use acrylic paints or is it too soon for me to follow this series? Also my acrylic paint dries up quickly, is it due to climate of my area or am I mishandling the paint?

First thank you for reaching out this is a question I wish I was asked more often. So already I can tell you have what it takes to do this because you did not give up you tried something else and that is the heart of art. Sounds like you need a quick catch up on some of the tools and materials and I have a playlist for that. It lets you begin at the beginning and answers most of the common early questions. I will put it here in this comment. then I will add a comment with the first paintings to try after you watch the first playlist kzitem.info/door/PLXUkNk1HRolGbagACdjVplH9z2JxEgTcQ

Whoever is facing the similar problem or following the thread...actually it's due to the room temperature, warmer and hotter the temperature of you room the more problem one will face. Paint will dry faster. Recently temperature of my area got 45degrees and to my surprise the paint got dried on the brush this time very soon.. To solve it first try to maintain the room temperature by 30-26 degrees and secondly keep a spray bottle with and time to time spray one or two pump as per the requirement on the canvas and colour palette. Rest practicing will ease you in blending but by this at least there will be no external factors stopping one from painting.

Acrylic pouring and landscape painting go together I have seen some cool combos. I want you to know that I love acrylic pouring and that while i do caution the use of torchers as being unsafe I am a huge fan of the practice and have so much love for the art form.
