I’d love to see a video about Samhain/Halloween in Ireland. I’m in the US and believe we celebrate it quite differently than Europe. Would love to learn about its history and role in modern Irish celebration.

No, I'm sorry. Good video but you are 100% wrong about the fada not being important! For a start, you spelled the Irish language version of Ireland incorrectly because you didn't include the fada. A native speaker of Irish in the Gaeltacht - of which there are about 100,000, would see 'Eire' as a word meaning 'burden, load or encumbrance'. Éire is the Irish for Ireland. There is a big difference in those two words on account of the fada.

Hi, my name is Robert and I am a writer in America. I love and have been using your channel for research into Irish names for a Science fiction story. I have a list of names that I understand are possibly Irish, however I have not found them on your channel or any other place. Can you help me out? P.S. If any of these names were on your channel I am sorry I missed them. Eilish, Coblaith, Colum, Frighil, Guaire, Haomh, Mally, Ninian, O’Ceirin, O’Luain, Oriel, Ruadháin, Torin, Uasal and Meara.

Hey! I just wanted to say a big thank you! I had my baby at the beginning of June and I had my heart set on naming him Kenneth Shay after my dad and grandad and my partners dad (Seamus). Sadly my parter was dead set against it which literally and absolutely has broken my heart. I spent the first three weeks crying because I couldn’t give him the name I felt suited him best! We argued every-time we talked about names for him and I just couldn’t think or imagine calling him anything else. My partner loved “Finn” names (Finnian, Finnigan etc) and Fionn but I just didn’t feel like it suited him (he’s so dark and Finn means fair lol). I watched your videos throughout my pregnancies as my boyfriend was heart set on an Irish name and re watched when I realised we needed to come up with a new name for him. We both have Irish Mc surnames (he’s double barrelled poor kid haha!) and thanks to your video we both settled and agreed on naming him Lochlann Kenneth!!! Thanks so so much for your content I love listening to your baby name videos and can’t wait for more!!!!

My cousin's name is Vanessa and when I was young I couldn't pronounce the V, she was a meanie so it was fitting lol My family's from North Ireland, my Great Grandpa was apart of the IRA, I think I get my rebellion from him lol When he moved to Canada he had to change our last name, I can't remember why exactly... But McKeague got switched to McKeigue, a last name no one can ever pronounce right lol I know Courtney is a gender nutrual Irish name, but have one met one guy named Courtney, at an Irish bar in Grande Prairie, Alberta lol but not sure how he spelled it. Anyways, lol, love your channel, so informative of Irish culture!

Kerry is often a boy's name in Australia (Kerry 'Skull' O'Keeffe - ex-test cricketer and media commentator - known for his joke-telling and his braying enjoyment of those jokes), and Nora is often an abbreviation of Eleanor. Kerry Greenwood is a noted female author (Miss Fisher's Mysteries).

I love the name Kerry, and... Enya is one my favorite names forever, and of course, my attraction to the word Enya, has much to do the singer, Enya. However, Enya, the singer's, songs and melodies, I'm sure have a lot of attachment to the history that goes along with her beautiful name, and the mythical folklore, that may have had a profound effect upon, her chosen path in music. Not to say that her musical work is steeped in the history of the name Enya and that's it, but I'm sure her name and understanding of it, is rather suited for the type of musical lyrics and melodies she brings us. I am rather interested in the Irish spelling, as well, Eithne. I tend to like the Irish spellings and pronunciations of these beautiful names you've earmarked.
