John, yes to someone here in the midwest, you sound a bit unusual. Can't put my finger on it, maybe Pauly Shore-like, dunno. Anyway, to your nay-sayers out there that are criticizing your voice, I say screw them. It's part of the show. You don't like all of the show, either live with it or move on, I say. Rock on John. There are two forms of Vitamin A. Animal products contain preformed Vitamin A that can be overdosed on. With leafy greens, it is proformed Vitamin A, meaning the body will convert it to proform vitamin A depending on the body needs. This is also true with IRON. You can easily overdose on heme-iron which is from animals, whereas Iron in plants is very unlikely to overdose on. That being said, I encourage everyone to rotate their greens in their garden and diet.

love the review but these are EXPENSIVE!!! 1 TOWER KIT... $279.00 .... i think i will make a tower myself with some PVC, a hand saw and heat gun. then by a timer and a small pump.... about $50 for everything and i can make ALOT. but i know your point was that anyone can do this (not everyone can make one), so i am sure you will make a few sales for them ;) great work as always!

What kind of seeds are they? I know many of the seeds at the box stores are marketed by Seminis, owned by Monsanto. I have nothing against strong hybrids, I like good production out of my plants. However, I prefer to "cast my vote" in the marketplace to promote competition, so I like to get my seeds from the smaller companies. Many of the most popular veggies sold in the box stores are developed by Seminis. A list is on their website which details the varieties for the home gardener.

This looks really enticing, but I think that apparatus works much better in areas with consistent climates. There is no way you can place anything on a timer here and keep an ideal amount of moisture in the plants. Our climate data standard deviation has expanded this year. We have very hot days with no rain for a few days, and then we have flooding rains. Last week, I did not need to water and had to bail the Growums. This week, I have had to refill the Growums plus water all else daily.

Hydroponics is an effective system but it have some disadvantage, you need to buy some "plant food", nutrition and supplements which may be costly. Before setting up any hydroponics system, you have to check out the benefit of aquaponics system, which can automate 95% of work.

It's not polite. Let's just start with that. I think that John's target audience is more beginning and intermediate gardeners. But whatever the case, his style is his style. He's an enthusiast, and he likes doing it the way he does. I just don't see the point of hounding the guy. You say that maybe if enough people get on him about his jokes or his quirky delivery, he'll look to improve it. Did you ever think that maybe he'd just say 'screw it'? Let the guy be himself, and ENJOY this gift.
