I am adding a little liquid charcoal to the paint. It makes for great textures. Unlike granulation but similar to wavy spider lines that float on the paint and break into patterns.

I was so surprised to hear that you get hate comments. How ridiculous. It is so simple. If they don’t like the videos, they can find something else to watch. Theres is no need to be nasty. I find value in every video I watch -from every artist I follow, including you- No matter how many years you have been creating, there is always something to learn. WHen I think about it, painting ( or other creative arts like quilting, knitting, learning to play an instrument) is such a solitary activity. And it is for that reason that it is so useful to watch videos and take classes and socialise a little, so you can get exposed to how others do the same thing. It is so interesting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

Thanks so much for this tutorial. I've been angsting over what colors to use for bricks, and this helps a lot. I got a Dan Smith complete watercolor dot card, thinking it would help me pick out colors for bricks, but I just wound up with too many colors to choose from, esp. when some of them are so close in color. There's like 3 whole rows of colors on the dot card that could be used for bricks! The garnet genuine, deep scarlet, quin. burnt scarlet, quin sienna, fired gold ochre, and Turner quin Rust all look like they'd be good for bricks. Also, watching the wax and oil resists, you could probably use regular crayons for this too, and those have a point that can be sharpened, so you can be more precise with the lines.
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
3 жыл бұрын
Yes crayons can be useful too. Bricks come in all colours but for the red ones the red oxide pigments are good (these are often called English Red, Venetian red, and other names, it's all Red Oxide pigment) Burnt sienna, Paynes Grey and Yellow Ochre can be good too.

Hi Kitty, I have four main palettes of the oblong shape I use in the video. Each has one primary and one secondary eg yellow and green, the fourth has earths and neutrals. But I have lots of other colours and brands too, which I recently sorted into colours and labelled in boxes which stack. (They are actually takeaway food containers!) Thanks so much for watching :-)
