I disagree with asking hair stylists for advice when you’re older. Every stylist I have visited has always wanted to cut my hair really short. In my opinion, short hair can make many people look older, while longer hair tends to make the face appear younger. Additionally, I have curly hair, and when it’s longer, it is easier to care for because it pulls down the curls. Hair stylists often suggest cutting hair short, even if it doesn’t suit a person’s age or face shape.

My Grandma was a beautician. It's important to go somewhere where the entire crew does a better cut and style. I try to pick someone that has my hair type, or is a senior stylist I usually find that these types of people will cut my thick wavy to curly hair best. Then as I am sitting there I watch and take note of other stylists because sometimes you can find a good stylist by watching. I feel like my method is less risky and I walk away happy. I also like to pick styles that fit my face shape and I bring in pictures from Pinterest or screen shots from my phone. While my hair is thicker, its not going ever look exactly like the picture it helps.

Hi Doctor Ellis. First, I love your content! Second, I have a request. Is it possible that you could do a series or even a single long-form video about how to treat your skin, nails, hair, etc. to heal the after effects of cancer treatments? My mom is a stage 4 breast cancer survivor, and cancer stole not just her breasts, but her healthy skin, her red hair (it lost all of its pigment during treatment), her healthy nails, and even her teeth (which I know is not something you can help with). Her skin is constantly dried out. Some of her toenails fell off during treatment. They have since grown back, but have become more brittle. Her hair is struggling as well with dryness. For extra context in case it helps, she is in her late 60s and lives in the southeastern US, so she lives in a warm and humid climate. She's been cancer-free for around 5 years, give or take, but this is still a struggle. I'm not certain this is something you could help with in its entirety due to you not being an oncologist, but I would imagine you could offer some help with this because the skin itself is your specialty and I'm sure you've seen many a cancer survivor who has had skin struggles after treatment. Thank you! I'm so glad I found your channel a few weeks ago!

I actually embraced my grey hair many years ago. I am 64 years young and I have long silver curls that I get so many compliments on. I am experiencing some thinning of my hair and have been using Rogaine 5%, the men’s version as I refuse to pay the “pink tax” on the women’s version. I have also incorporated the Viviscal Shampoo and conditioner and my hair has been filling in and now looks fuller and thicker.
