Perfect timing! I just had someone reach out to me yesterday asking for a cell phone prop for their desk. You’ve just made my job much easier. 🙂🙂

Cool material for sure. Great simple project. Looks like the lean of the phone should work with most pop sockets as well.

Haven’t bought a CNC yet, but narrowing it down to the OneFinity or Shapeoko. Either way, I’ll probably be joining your group by EOM. I really love your content - makes sense for a newbie like me!

this might be something that is better suited for 3d printing, you should get into that :) i bet if you combined wood cnc and 3d printing it'd make for some really cool stuff.

Can you buy this file on esty with your others or is only available on cnc with me? Thanks for the great video

Great video, Hamilton. Love the Mitzery project too. Is the substrate you are using called "Richlite?"

2:39, what are the lines on the front of the bottom portion, below where the phone sits? Looks like bit deflection around tabs potentially.

Yeah it's because I was taking off too much. I should have adjusted my stepdown. Richlite is just too solid to go at the way I was

That material looks amazing! I do have a question, why do you roundover with the router rather than making it a tool path? Quess it is two questions! My CNC has proprietary software. I can use vector or stl files. Are those a part of the cncwithme formats?
@HamiltonDilbeck

I do the round overs by hand bc it's easy- and so that I only use 3 bits on the channel. The more bits- the more confusion. Yep! SVG vector files as well as dxf files. The svgs can be used in any software. Those are all included at cncwithme.com

The material is called "Richlite" and can be purchased as samples or partial sheets which is what I'm using here!

Maybe this is a weird question, but has anyone made a video showing things you can make on a CNC or a laser? I'm asking because I was previously looking at buying a laser, but decided to get a CNC instead. And yet it seems like many of the things the laser people make could also be done on a CNC. Things like ornaments, signs and coasters. Yes, I know you can strap a laser onto some CNCs, but I'm talking about just cutting the thing out and scribing a personalized message on it. Anyway, it would be cool if an influencer type could show things that are typically made on a laser and how they'd make them on CNC and sell them at a market.

CNCwithme, How Vectric users will be supported, not interested to learn, buy Carveco? Great job, watching your journey from the beginning.

Thanks for following along! We offer the weekly files in Vectric and Carveco formats- but the toolpath tutorials will only be in carveco for now. CNC WITH ME is such a bigger thing than just Carveco or Vectric tutorials, though- that is just a portion of it.

Nice project, agree on the Richlite, beautiful material to machine. Stay warm down there in ATL.

I'm really liking the look of that richlite stuff. Hoping it comes down in price. BTW, I prefer onion skinning my through cuts if I'm using double sided tape. Keeps the bits from getting gummed up and then me having to clean them with solvent (and inevitably cutting myself).

based on your experience, what tolerance amount do you recommend for hardwood and plywood. thanks. keep making stuff.

It honestly depends so much on the project. Sometimes a .05" offset is great for some things that you want a customer to index- but .02" offset could be much better for something like this video. Hopefully one day I'll have a much more dependable answer- but I'm still playing around a lot with it.

Joined CNCWITHME!! I’m a completed newbie to CNC. Not woodworking. Ordered the 1F Foreman Elite 48x48 last week based on your recommendation. Plus the Stiffy, Tool Setter and QCW Fixed Stand. I went to Bentonville and talked to Dan at PWN and bought the 110v 80mm water cooled spindle and dust boot. I need to order bits so I’ll probably buy your suggested 3 bit set. I have dust collection. I’d like to be up and running as quickly as I can. What else do I need that I might be missing? Thank you for your experience and advice. I’ve found your KZitem videos very educational.

Heck yeah! You've got quite the setup! I think you're covered right now. I would mainly be focused on learning the software. The toolpath tutorials in CNC WITH ME is a great place to start learning. Thats where the majority of CNC headache comes from. See you over there!

I’m not certain which software to use. I’m learning towards Carveco to start and learn? Your thoughts ?
