I first started carnivore early October 2022. I weighed 302 pounds. I started by eating ground beef or a ribeye in the morning. In the evening I ate another ribeye or a couple New Yorks. Right before bed I drank 8oz of whole organic milk. By week 4 I felt like an animal. I felt so strong so resilient. I felt superhuman. It was insane how I felt. I felt like I could run through a concrete wall and wrestle a lion. 😂of course this was a feeling not reality but my body inside was obviously changing. This routine works for me. I am now 230 pounds with 55 to go.

Anecdote: I've been strict low-carb for almost 4 years, lots of good health outcomes. Mostly beef, bacon, eggs, salmon, shrimp, some chicken, butter, aged cheeses, nuts mainly macadamia, some berries, bit of onion and greens, coffee/cream. Tried adding in yogurt for past 6 months. High fat FAGE yogurt with no added sugar. 25g carbs in container. Started having persistent constipation, aching feet, and mirror showed abdominal weight gain. So cut out yogurt 3 weeks ago, aches receding, constipation gone, and mirror tells me losing some weight....

Thank you. I needed to hear this. About a month ago I decided to cut out cheese and joghurt one day by day basis. I mean I said to myself "only for today I will have no cheese". (Stopping yoghurt did not bother me.) So these many 24 hours turned into a month. I could not have done this any other way because I felt the addiction to cheese. The first two weeks it was really hard for me to go shopping and to ignore the cheese section. The loss of control I experience with cheese is terrible. It is exactly like you describe in the interview. I start "just having a bite", and then I find myself eating the whole block. In Europe we say that cheese closes the stomach. Especially in Italy and France people eat bits of cheese at the end of a meal. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have gone thru days where I was almost full (on meat) and then decided to have a bit of cheese to close the session. After having eaten the cheese, I was hungery again and was able to eat the leftover meat that I had originally intented to keep for the next day. No, I don't want this anymore. My guess is that this is how an alcoholic must feel about alcohol.

Funny thing, I had been off dairy for the past 6.5 years while doing the Virgin Diet. But, it stopped working for me after my health took a turn last year. I was doing good on Carnivore for 2 weeks (lost 14lbs and felt REALLY great) with just meats and butter, but then decided to add a bit of cheese before dinner, which has turned into eating plain yogurt when I break my fast, then my main meal of meat a few hours later. Lol. Now I know why I feel like doo-doo, and not losing anymore weight. 🤪

Then watched this video to see if dairy could be a problem - and smirked when you mentioned people who only hear dairy is OK and overeat on it - the joke was on me. I began overeating on dairy AFTER I watched this video 🙈. At first, I tried to moderate my dairy consumption. Next thing I know is I'm only eating blocks of Brie and jars of Mascarpone for about 10 days straight plus added raw milk by the liter to "help my digestion" 🤣. My little lizard brain just went nuts... I only realized I have a full blown dairy addiction after the scale showed +4kg after 10 days from 59kg to 63kg 🙈🙈🙈 needless to say I still can't believe I've done that 🙉

This was an *exceptionally* valuable discussion of the problems associated with the consumption of dairy products by people on ketogenic diets. I have done Atkins and KETO on and off for the past 24 years prior to converting to Carnivore this month. I am a 61 year old white male who has been struggling with weight issues for a lifetime. My principal food addictions are to sugar and dairy. EVERY SINGLE PITFALL and BEHAVIOR that Dr. Chaffee describes and warns about happened to me. I would lose a lot of weight and do really well *until* my body and palette switched it’s addiction from sugar to one or more dairy products. At that point I would always stall out and grow exceedingly frustrated and finally fall off the wagon a regain a lot of weight. It’s terrible. I have stalled due to over-consumption of each of the following dairy products at one time or another: Cheese, Cottage Cheese, Sour Cream, Heavy Whipping Cream, Cream Cheese, Plain Greek Yogurt, and Unsweetened Coffee Creamers. Now that I am on carnivore I have deleted all dairy products other than butter, from my kitchen and my dietary regimen. I only use butter to cook with and as a condiment for lean meats. So far, so good. Been doing things this way for 8 days now. Weight is dropping. No food cravings. Belt is tightening up and pants already looser. Saving tons of money at the grocery store no longer buying dairy nor fruits and vegetables either. Money saved on those food items all gets plowed back into buying high quality beef, lamb, bacon, butter, Keto Chow electrolyte drops, etc. I’m feeling great and have already eliminated inflammation of my joints completely and am pain-free in that department for the first time in years! I know that everyone LOVES dairy, but LISTEN to Dr. Chaffee. He really does know what he is talking about. Go dairy free for 30 days. Most of you will not go back to eating it after you see the benefits. 😊

This content was so helpful for me. I feel so heard! Thank you. I began my carnivore journey to healing last November because I identified with being a complete sugar addict. I had tried and tried to give up sugar using different ways of eating working with different nutritionists. But I still had cravings, I think because carbohydrates were still in my diet. When I jumped two feet into carnivore, my sugar cravings, I thought has stopped. But little did I realise that my consumption of raw dairy was what replaced my sugar and carb cravings without me realising I was still an addict!!!😅 I ate copious amounts of raw yoghurt, drank warmed raw milk with ghee and used raw butter on my steaks. I am now, pretty much dairy free, except for a dash of milk in my coffee. This is what I am struggling to give up at the moment. Coffee. Even though I know that coffee gives me no dietary benefits whatsoever, I am realising that I need to work on my unconscious mind to shift my habits. Very, very hard. I don't do coffee myself, first and foremost because it's a plant. Secondly though it just doesn't make me feel good and I feel much better without it. More energy, less inflammation, no soreness after working out. One cup of black coffee left me sore from working out for 2 days whereas otherwise I won't be sore at all. You can give it a try, it is addictive and you will have a withdrawal and maybe some headaches, but just drink a lot of water and you should be fine. It won't last more than a few days, and then the total addiction will be gone within a week or two. After that you will feel a lot better because of it. I've had hundreds of people tell me how much better they feel without coffee, even coming from serious coffee addicts. Good luck with it!

@@anthonychaffeemd many thanks for your feedback. I am on Day 1 no coffee. I hope to make it to 2 weeks and beyond. I was interested to hear about your soreness. I have had inflammation in my right hip area since October. Constant niggling soreness and at worse a dull intermittent ache. 2 years ago, I began with hip bursitis (right hip inflammation). Only in Sept/October. This year it came early, around August. Very strange. I think coffee and maybe my dairy (milk in coffee) could be the trigger. I only began to drink coffee at age 40. Before then, I hated the taste. But I drank tea. I had to give up tea because it affected my breast tissue at menstruation. Terrible soreness. When I stopped drinking tea, the pain stopped. Coffee 🙈 became my replacement brew!! I am now 53. Maybe my hip soreness/inflammation is a similar kind of thing? I would really like to educate myself on the chemicals in coffee that harm us, as well as the pesticides used on coffee crops too. I think there is also a mind thing going on too. Coffee = a warm hug/ritual. I think I need to find healthier replacements. It's about self-worth at the end of the day and valuing who I am. Thank you for educating us 🙂

Had he known, I believe he would have spoken to the truth. I wonder how many people might have listened if he too had followed a different path to health. What ever happened to the creed,” First do no harm?” I am grateful to have found Dr. Coffees podcast on plants. Changed my life! Gurd, IBS, pain and inflammation is almost completely gone! I believe the Turlov cysts will shrink as I continue on this amazing journey back to health. I am in my 4 th month, down 27 pounds and feeling faith in my ability to self determinate and finally listen to my own body then was trying to speak to me all along. Thank you to all the beautiful, kind, patient souls who not only put up with x veggies but actually welcome us into the fold! You remind me, how can we ever trust them again? (first do no harm?) We don’t need to now. We can trust the wisdom of our bodies that have a lineage, a history that tells the story of its needs and that is beautiful!

Thanks for the nuanced opinion. Some say dairy is great, others say not one bite ever. Dairy used as a condiment makes sense. It's a flavor enhancer for the meat, not a replacement for the meat. I find it interesting that, when I first started carnivore, I had trouble moderating dairy intake, what the Whole 30 people call "food with no brakes". Now after several years of carnivore, that doesn't happen anymore. It wasn't that I developed more willpower, the cravings are just gone.

Absolute milk lover here.....I have loved milk since I was a little kid, growing up I would go through 2 gallons every week...I only remember this because my mom would complain about how much milk she had to keep buying. NEVER had an allergy growing up but something happened in my early 20's and like a switch flipped I developed a cold that wouldn't go away in the spring of '94....months later when this cold wouldn't go away I started realizing I didn't have a cold but possibly allergies. Then went away in the mid summer and returned again in the fall and this cycle continued for over a decade and I couldn't for the life of me understand how I developed allergies out of nowhere but in my mid 30's I had an epiphany and started thinking how I seemed mostly allergic when I was exposed to fresh cut grass. It dawned on me...could I be allergic to grass because my body is overloaded with milk which guess what a cow eats to produce milk...GRASS!!! I really didn't think there was anything to it but I decided to quit the love of my life which was very depressing....did I mention I LOVE milk! After after a few months of never drinking milk again my allergies mostly went away. 5 years later I quit smoking and what traces of allergies I still had TOTALLY going away so my conclusion was that milk AND smoking was what was triggering my allergies. I'm 51 now and haven't had allergies since nearly 15 years.....I did however start drinking milk again a couple of months ago but tried 100% grass fed milk hoping that it was the antibiotics and hormones in the milk cows that were giving me allergies but unfortunately my allergies came back so I'm off milk forever now! Oh well....I tried!

Hi Anthony. Like I was saying in the live chat, your research seems to be based on pasteurised milk with i 100% agree with. Pasteurised milk is like poison in the body. But if you were to compare meat to raw milk, I think you would change your mind about milk. When it is in its raw state, from a grass fed cow that hasn’t been shot with vaxs and chemicals, you’ll find the milk is very nutritious and healing. Raw milk products like butter and cheese actually heal your gut and don’t promote leaky gut. I fed our baby at 6 weeks old on raw cows milk. Weston a price recipe. Mum couldn’t breast feed. He had a hard start to life and wasn’t in good shape, but after he went on the raw milk, he gained heaps of weight and grew like a champ. He’s now in the 98th % vs 25th % when born. And he’s not a fat fat baby like formula fed babies. Solid muscle with healthy fat. I do feed him a lot of meat also. Anyway that’s a long post, love the research and info your putting out. 100% agree with the info you have put out, but you haven’t mentioned how good raw milk is for you. It’s like comparing apples and a can of coke. That’s how much the change is and that’s why people get so messed up on drinking milk. Can you please address this in another video? I would imagine it would be a while before you did, as it’s a huge topic with a lot of BS research papers hating on raw milk. It’s like trying to find truth in politics. Cheers dude

Doctor Chaffee, I needed to hear this video today. It's my 1st day of the BBB&E February challenge with Dr. Berry & Neisha in their mighty network group. I've been on ketovore since 2022. I need to see if dairy has caused my recent fat gain of 12 lbs in 1 month with inflammation or if it's hormones. I have been following Mindy Pelz book "Fast like a Girl" & added regular & sweet potatoes, more cheese, nuts & berries to raise my progesterone & try the flexibility thing. I worked hard to put my 20 years of RA in remission since starting Keto in September 2019. I'm now 49 years young & I did lose 60 lbs & reversed many other chronic conditions. My health has gone in reverse & it's frustrating! You're a Superman for metabolic health. I do appreciate your trustworthy knowledge. Love & Peace, Christine Peters

I haven't been fighting cravings. I went keto, was all into it, and I naturally started eating more meat and eggs. I still use liquid Stevia, and am decreasing it. My main "extra" I have now is egg shake with cocoa, half and half. And Stevia. I think that's my sticking point, and am now stopping those "they're so good" because I'm sure they are hindering my weight loss. I am finding out I am VERY sensitive to extra foods since I've cut down to basically meat, fat and eggs. When I reach my weight, I'll add things to see what hurts and helps. In the meantime, meat, fat and eggs every day, and tbh, I crave the stuff now.

Dairy has an insidious way of creeping up on me. It's true I don't have access to raw dairy but I suspect even that would be something I would crave more and more of. The point of animal milk and human milk is to promote growth, it does have natural growth promoting compounds in it. In the field of lactation counseling we use this to explain to moms why it is so good for all babies, and vital for premature babies. To keep it simple I will quote Kelly Hogan (if you haven't seen her channel look her up.) When someone is having issues "It's the dairy"! She has known this for years whether or not she knew about the science behind it LOL. Thanks for this excellent information.

This is my second time watching this fantastic video! I watched it a few months back and again today when it popped up in my feed. Anecdotally speaking, my consumption of dairy was reasonably low since I started Carnivore 7+ months ago. I've dialed it back more in the last couple of weeks, specifically heavy cream in my coffee. I went from a moderate amount to a minimal amount (but still more than a splash). My stomach doesn't care for it, so I'm tapering it down, to see if I can cut it out, entirely. I've always loved creamy coffee, so this will be a challenge. Besides that, I enjoy a modest amount of Kerrygold, which I will cut slivers while I'm cooking my meat, to snack on and prime my appetite for digestion (I've heard it suggested to start a meal with fat to prime digestion and avoid any carb consumption until the end of the meal, if any carbs are to be ingested). I am VLC, to almost zero carb on some days. One aspect of dairy that I would appreciate feedback on is kefir. It's very difficult to obtain raw dairy in my area, so mine is pasteurized. However, it is A2 unflavored kefir (organic, I think), so I think it's a reasonably good choice. I occasionally (2-3x per week) have a little (5 oz). I use my old Jameson glass, since I don't use it for whiskey anymore.😊 That works out to approximately 7g of fat, 7 g of carbs, and 5g of protein. I sip it after dinner, like a cordial or egg nogg. Does that sound reasonable? Tonight's dinner was: two 1/3 lb burger patties topped with a little Kerrygold, a can of Season brand Sardines, A2 Kefir, all washed down with some San Pellegrino sparkling mineral water. Thanks again, Dr. Chaffee! I'm always learning from you and you're a consummate professional.

I’ve watched all the videos you put out and subscribed. It’s interesting to see the division even within the carnivore community and seeing carnivore influencers, some which are highly educated switch up their approach to carnivore even if they told you in the past what’s best. I.e. Paul Saladino. One that threw me for a loop after seeing a few ex-carnivores stray away and go towards the teachings of Ray Peat. Saying they felt agitated and angry when they just ate meat only but felt amazing once they started eating potatoes, adding milk and drinking O.J. And that sugar is a necessary micro nutrition for human health. That sugar is not what cancer feeds on but that it’s oxidative stress which effects the mitochondria etc. They say the body thrives off of glucose and not fat contrary to what the carnivores/ keto community touts. Who to believe? We have all these extremes and the internet is full of misleading information. What happened to all things in moderation when it pertains to foods? Vegans and carnivores are seen as extremes, but what if it’s in the middle? What if the carnivore diet is great for healing a damaged body simply because in essence it’s the elimination of all foods while allowing the body to heal but once that’s happened is it not good for long term? The one thing I give credit to you Anthony, is that you look healthy and fit which helps versus the other diet experts who look like garbage while telling you what’s healthy. Since you were once a top level athlete, it would be interesting to know your thoughts on getting electrolytes, what kind is optimal? Do you think creatine supplements is okay on the carnivore for athletes? Although red meat has creatine, it’s not the amount you would get if you supplemented creatine so you can saturated the muscles compared to just meat. It would be great to hear your perspective on these things since you were a former rugby player etc. Cheers!

Long term, I've read some who have been carnivore for 10, 15 ,20 years with no problems. If it cures my illness rather live a shorter more quality of life than a longer sicker life but as of my opinion there is no evidence that I know of long term problems. However i have inflammation in my joints and i don't know what is the cause i decided to eliminate dairy and i feel like my joints pain is gradually going away i'm 2 weeks dairy free until now. i think it's the Casein amino acid that causes the inflammation.

I'm a type 1 diabetic. I used to eat mostly meat with few veggies and my sugars were great.. I then went to a farmers market where they had 'healthy' bread so I bought it.. ever since I've been starving all the time. I just started going back to eating meat .. only meat. Already I don't feel hungry which is so nice. I do drink coffee which I don't need .. I'm awake by 5am or sooner ready to go right when I wake up but I like coffee.. lol I'm going to order it from a place where volcanos erupt so the soil is very good like it once was on the planet.. so I don't think it'll be bad. Maybe eventually I'll give it up.. I think cheese and milk are okay though if you buy it organic and grass fed. I'm going to continue with cheese if it keeps me eating the meat. I'm using mms to cure my diabetes and meat is the only thing I can eat where I can go 8 hours to all day not eating because you have to take mms for 8 hours or it doesn't work.

3 months on carnivore, the only dairy product I have in my diet is a bit of cream in my morning coffee and a bit of cream in my coffee at night (decaf) 2 coffees a day. I 've lost 23 pounds. I eat rib eye steaks, bacon, eggs, ground beef, shrimps, tuna, a bit of chicken, pork once and a while.

I keep my cheese slicer in the butter cubby. It's rarely used for cheese. When I cook steak I slice 2 or 3 wide swaths of butter to lay on top of the steak then cook it.

I like cheese and sour cream, but I have to face the fact that my body does not want it. I even tried goat cheese thinking the A2 dairy would be less problematic than A1 cow dairy, but I still break out and get inflamed just the same. It´s not the end of the world, but it can take some extra effort to stay away from it. Thanks so much for all you do 👍💞

I started Carnivore on October 18, 2023. I am a diabetic. I was on Medformin/Glyberide since the early 2005. My sugar level was out of control due to what I was eating so the doctor prescribed JARDIANCE. In June 2023, my A1C was 8.6 which was lower than the previous year. So I am scheduled to see the doctor again 6 months later which is January 2024. I did not know about Carnivore until I saw Dr. Peterson on Joe Rogan. I felt compelled to try it. Doctors only want to give you more medicine and I was tired of it. It was a God sent. I changed my medication from 5 pills a day to one. My levels is awesome. Only today my vision was closing in while I was wide awake. I was feeling a little weak so I figured my sugar level was a bit low. So I had some chocolate morsels in the house and ate a handful. Took a nap then checked my sugar level which was 59. So I knew then my sugar level was really really low before the morsels. So I ate carbs and my level went to 127. First time since I started the carnivore. My weight averaged 5lbs a month. I weigh myself on the 18th of each month. It will be 3 months December 18 when I get on the scale again. Can’t wait! I probably should not have taken my medication that morning. No I did not check my levels that morning. I check it once a day after I get off work. It’s all good. I am truly happy. My birthday is January 24 which is the day my appointment is scheduled. I get my lab work a week before my appointment. Excited!

Congratulations dear heart, Dr Ken Berry recommends BBB&E for 90 days as your first goal. Beef Butter Bacon and Eggs. Our hormones are made from fat which is highly nutritious butter, ghee, meat fats, tallow, bacon grease, I love butter and always use it without issue. My body craves grass fed and finished ground beef, love a big juicy burger patty more than steak. I do buy a variety of beef, steaks, brisket, chuck roast, love beef and chicken bone broths. Redmond’s Real Salt is delicious like no other to me and helps keep my electrolytes up. I have a hernia left over from a foot size tumor protecting me from ovarian cancer, I am a fiber free Carnivore it is healing my intestines, losing visceral fat and strengthening my abdominal muscles should heal it.

I take a swig of whole milk once every few days or so. The sweetness after 50+ days on carnivore really stands out, and is a nice treat. If I had access to raw milk I would drink that in a heartbeat. One swig is like having one potato chip. It hasn't affected weight loss or appetite so far, and I love this carnivore lifestyle. It fits me. I do have some things I miss, but the benefits of this diet for me are undeniable, with or without the moo juice.

Because of the severe damage a high plant food diet caused me (and all the drugs I wa son as a kid); and the oxalate damage to my esophagus; and the oxalate build up in my body, I basically live on raw milk. It is grass fed, jersey, non vaxed, really clean. I do eat some meat (once a day) and trying to add more eggs in (mostly yolks, I don't care for the whites). Personally, I feel like raw milk has saved my life. I am trying to add more meat into my diet but I just don't feel great when I eat a lot of it. I am 3.5 years into carnivore. But my diet is mostly raw milk at this time. Every time I reduce the milk, my stomach and esophagus burns & feels terrible. Without the milk, my reflux comes back too. I have zero pain with raw milk. Whenever I eat more meat, the pain and symptoms creep back in. Not a ton but a little. Try to eat as clean as humanly possible in this toxic world. I am sure people respond differently to different things. I know some who are thriving on a high plant based or vegan diet. I don't get it but they are. So I try to not make sweeping statements (or judgments) about nutrition and people. :-)

Fresh mozzarella cheese with a little salt on it, is my favorite dessert these days. But, I had heard the warning before not to overdo it on cheese on the carnivore diet and it makes sense.
@SG-ji5ij

Mozzarella cheese has zero carbs. The issue with "overdoing cheese on any diet is that it's extremely high in fat (around 90% fat to protein in calories) which will stall weight loss and possibly, actually, cause fat gain. Dairy is not an issue in daily moderation unless you have an allergy etc to it.
@duststorm7287
2 жыл бұрын
@@SG-ji5ij no. Not true at all. 90%? Not even close. It's 40% milkfat before processing. It's usually 25% or less fat after processing. Facts dude. Stop playing fiction writer. Cheeses are bad because of lactose.

@@SG-ji5ij what if i weant to gain some weight?
@SG-ji5ij
2 жыл бұрын
@@RapatipatooO it really depends on your eating method. If you're on carnivore here's my protocol... If you're wanting to gain weight I would NOT recommend consuming more cheese or dairy to do so (a little each day is ok). Do these two things instead: 1) increase your fat intake by consuming fattier meat selections such as: Ribeye steaks, 73/27 or 80/20 ground beef as examples. The extra fat in these selections will have more energy (calories) you'll have to try and burn through each day. 3) Do not intermittent fast...in other words, do not skip meals. Eat all 3, with breakfast being the largest of the three and dinner the second largest. Lunch should be the smallest of the three. This will allow yourself enough eating in a day to add more calories. But!!! Do not go overboard. You need to gradually increase the fat content per day every 2 weeks by adding 10% more calories every two weeks. If you try and ramp up the calories too fast you're going to gain fat which is exactly the kind of weight you don't want to gain. If you notice you're gaining too much weight (or fat) which again is the reason to slowly increase your calorie amount by adding 10% of calories every two weeks...this way you can gauge if you're starting to gain fat and make the change needed before it gets out of hand. Sorry, I got dude tracked there...here's what to do if you start gaining weight too much: 1) start lowering the calories by 10% every two weeks. To accomplish this you'll look for 90/10 ground beef and or New York strip steak instead, slowing switching out the fattier selections of meat every 2 weeks. Start by switching your dinner meats to these less fatty selections. Two weeks later, switch out the lunch fattier meat for the less fat selections and monitor your weight loss. Keep the breakfast fattier unless the weight is still not coming off. Last resort option... 2) Intermittent Fasting. But do NOT intermittent fast daily or else you'll slow your metabolism which would not be advised. Instead, intermittent fast every other day or two and never intermittent fast two days back to back. This will keep your metabolism high but also keep you in a calorie deficit (which will equal weight loss). If you need help with any of this or have questions I would be glad to go into more detail. Best wishes!

Speaking of Dairy. It's my understanding, that when you talk about dairy, you have to distinguish between raw milk, and processed milk. And as i understand it... Raw milk has multiple health benefits, that processed milk doesn't... And processed milks, especially skimmed and such, have a detrimental effect on certain aspects on health... Bone density for one... But, it is hard to get those questions right, considering all the mis- and dis- information out there...

I have a casein allergy and after years of no dairy I'm also lactose intolerant. However, I recently discovered I can tolerate fully fermented, aged cheddar cheeses. Out of curiosity, I looked for and found a study that investigated the aging process, during which casein goes through proteolysis. After 24 months of aging, 90%+ of the casein was no longer detectable.
