A couple of years ago I did this (on paper). I allowed 10p per day for herbs, spices and small amounts of ingredients. I also used other pantry ingredients costing them pro rata and some supermarket shopping. Doing it this way I managed within budget and had a desert for lunch and supper too. After all most of us have a pantry with lots of half used basic ingredients.

I miss British food prices so much! Live in the USA now and those carrots and onions would have been about 80 percent of the food budget here alone. Saying that though, petrol and home prices are cheaper, so it evens out. Love this video, you did a fabulous job! There is a decent amount of protein in that cottage cheese, so it was a great choice. Pantry treasures can be a godsend too. I was trying to eat low budget one week and found a jar of green tomato chutney I had made the previous year in the back of my shelves, it was a game changer for adding flavor to simple cheese sandwiches, pasta sauces, etc and kept me on track. Your little man is precious!!

Great video , adding a few herbs and spices would be tasty and probably most people have some already in cupboard , as you say not nutritionally sound for long term but great for a week 5 of a five week month x

Do you have any vegetarian meals you could share. I live alone and tend to snack more than I should but I do eat porridge, some bread, baked beans, eggs, hummus, beetroot, fish and lots of oranges.

How in the world are you getting carrots, onions and potatoes for 15 p? Even the "without card" price is cheaper in the UK than Italy and salaries her are WAY lower. All of that marked down food? Nope, not here.

The veg was only that cheap as in the UK now supermarkets are doing deals on veg around Christmas and Easter which is when this video was filmed. The prices are around tripple for the rest of the year and going up almost weekly or the supermarket don't have the cheaper items forcing people to buy the more expensive items or going without.
