I am Swiss and lived the past four years in Barranco. I really do not see a problem with driving in Peru. Just use your horn and a "c..... tu madre" frequently and on any random occasion. Miraflores is much cleaner and nicer than most US-Cities. The food is incredible and in Lima just try "La Barra, Rafael, Maido or Central". Also do not miss sandwiches from La Lucha or their soup place "Siete Sopas". Special tip for Surfers is Lobitos or the area of Mancora up north. Within one hour flight from Lima you can have it all, from desert to wonderful beaches, jungle or glacier. I love Peru.

You gotta visit the Mountains regions in Peru, cities like Huancayo, Huaraz or Ayacucho are so under rated, you get a kickass time exploring there besides the usual spots! also do not miss out on the north and jungle cities in Peru! super exotic and the food, oh man! Listen to Wolters, everything is accurate and like any country with strange things like cuy which is not a rat btw, it is reaised eatign vegetables and grains. So nothing that shocked me anyway! And people don’t really eat the a whole guinea pig, it is actually share within the family (so they get really small pieces). There is lots of seafood dishes in the coast. :)

Yes Guinea Pigs was my first shocker while unpacking my luggage at the hotel and watching the dish being made on TV lol !!! What i also had was Sting-Ray and Alligator meat up north in Chiclayo... i told the locals that i will try it just as long as they don't tell me what it is !!! Also Beef heart "Anticucho" was also a very famous snack....Not to mention Ceviche which it took me 4 tries to get it "down" in my system without spending time in the restroom (yes you get the runs) but after the 3-4 times (like the locals say) you will keep it down !!! lol .... Also only DRINK "Agua con gas" aka carbonated water to avoid "fake" non-filter water... Don't forget the Beer "Cusquena" and Cusquena Negra !!...Yes the price you see is ALWAYS negotiable including the cab ..... Love your channel !!

Love this review. We were just in Peru for 2 weeks in August and had a wonderful time . Yes , I ate cuy! It was very tasty. The inside sort of tasted like pork and the skin tasted like a combination of crispy bacon and bacon fat. It was very messy and alot of work to eat though with the bones ... Alot of people back home gave me slack for eating it, but my answer to them is , if you happen to eat burgers , steak , chicken or even fish you really have no argument because they are just as much living creatures as a cuy is.. It's amazing how different the climates are in the different cities ... Lima was cool, and foggy almost low London is... Arequipa was a dry desert that sort of resembled the climate of New Mexico ... and the region around Macchu Picchu especially Aguas Calienete and Ollantaytambo had a Nepali feel to it . I REALLY recommend Ollataytambo. That was my favorite town in Peru.... As for chewing the cocoa leaf, I was told that yes, it is legal , and definitley dont bring it home . However , if you chew it , and happen to get drug tested at work or something , you might come up dirty ... I am not 100% sure about that , but it may be something to think about ... awesome review... awesome country !

Dubai4ever It’s ok, in the tourist areas normally the guides and people that are working in Stores, Restaurants, Bars, Hotels, etc speaks English as well. If you are from Middle East just consider that Lima (the Capital) is at the sea level but Cuzco city is at very high altitude and you need to aclimate first, also consider that both places have totally different weathers. I am suggesting you this, because I am from Perú, married with an American that lived 6 years in KSA and has been in Dubai & Bahrain and by experience I know the weather and altitude in Middle East is totally different. They eat Guinea Pigs there because these animals are originally from Peru. They were domesticated there NOT to have them at home roaming around useless and getting fat just because they are cute, they were domesticated there as a source of food and protein. Nothing wrong or bad about it. Now, if westeners have been raising cute rabbits and cute BABY calves for them to end up in the grill smother with sauces, we don't make a big deal about it, do we? ... And also, they are popular as food mostly by the Andean people. Very hard to find roasted Guinea Pig in the capital: Lima ...

Love your videos! My shocks of Peru. The people on and west of andes are super nice. I felt like family. Peru has 2 months of travel easy because it has so much to see. I loved the white mountains and Trujillo in the north that few tourist go to but are fine. Many people dont know down by Nazca there are islands off the coast with seals and penguins. Besides machu picchu, which is expensive (+$300), almost every other tour was $20 or less. 1 hour flight to Cusco from lima or a 22 hour bus ride. Flying inside of countries in South America is cheap. Flying to other countries is more expensive. I think for me it was $55 dollars to fly from lima to Cusco or the bus was $40. I dont like hostels but have to watch my spending on hotels. If anyone wants my hotel names in lima, Trujillo, huaraz, arequipa, puno, and cusco ask me. There are plenty of cheap but nice hotels. ($15-30) Take about 25% off what they ask for in the markets for goods. If you live somewhere cold, buy llama and packa wool items. They are super warm. The food is so good. Ceviche is exellent.

Wrong dude, cuy is not a popular dish in the whole Peru. It's manly eaten by certain people in the high Andes region like Cuzco, from where you're noticing that. It's not popular in other parts of the county. It'd be your equivalent as the people from New Orleans eating raccoon and possum.
