i am actually a dietitian AND went through and recovered from anorexia and i agree with what you’ve said.. during recovery you eat very differently from what would be considered “ideal healthy balanced eating” for the general population because your body is out of balance as is regaining that by gravitating toward the other “extreme”.. but that’s fine and a natural part of it and without it reaching physical and mental recovery would take much longer or wouldn’t even be possible as you need to be challenging your fear foods to regain that healthy relationship with food.. so yes yes yes keep on sharing this information for anyone who might still be in recovery and needs to hear that this is in fact normal!

@@eggdropdroptop9388 Thought I'd reply to you. It varies. The first time around, after I had gotten to a healthy weight, it took about 3 months. After my second relapse, again after I had gotten to a heathy weight, it took about 5 months. The third time was a little different, because I had a mild relapse during an extremely stressful period of my life, and I have a feeling those two factors mixed together. It took about 7 months to return after reaching a healthy weight. Note that that the times I am giving are after I had reached a healthy weight. I lost my period for 19 months, 13 months and 10 months respectively - so, don't fret, keep working hard and it will return :)

@kkhagen2170

Or if someone is not super underweight they will deny they have an ED and just lucky enough to get help before that. I’ve been told sooooo many times I didn’t have an ED because I didn’t get to a very underweight body, way less than I should be as my muscle mass was almost completely gone and I should be full of muscle because of my genetics. I used to think I should “show them how sick I can get and then they will finally believe me”. But I’m very thankful for my parents and the support I had to overcome those thoughts.

(possible tw) my family would always shame people for their body types, especially my siblings and i, and ever since 13 i haven’t been able to eat normally since. it’s almost ironic with the way they get angry when i eat less than eat more. i’ve seen a few of your videos now and you’ve come such a long way, you seem happier now and that happiness really can be contagious. i always think about how i may be stuck with this forever, i’d do anything to show 13 year old me videos like these. but still, your videos make me want to gain some sort of hope; i always imagined a future where i’m completely at peace and finally happy with the people i love and with not only myself, but with life in general. your messages mean so much to me, im so happy that you’ve overcome these fear foods completely because the pathway to recovery can be so hard

I am a 50 plus year old woman who is a recovered Anorexic (and thinking of becoming a Coach for Life after ED Recovery??) and recovered in my 30s, so totally get what you are saying. Your body knows exactly what it needs and a lot of the time it didn't make logically sense to me at the time, but on reflection I can understand why I had the cravings I did. Even having the cravings was another reason Anorexic discipline would amp up. I always thought I was eating "wrong" and also had fear foods. Fast forward today I am so grateful to be in recovery and the "cravings" have gone (again, I know it is because my body is happy and feeling good). After all, the body's function is to just make sure it is surviving and when we mess with it, it will do all it needs to keep functioning. You are a great inspiration for others. Recovering from an ED is hard work, but it is possible. To others and keep on keeping on!!! You have got this.

Unfortunately fashion isn't restricted to clothing, hair and make up, but also influences preferred body shapes. They go in and out if style and celebrities are likely the first to follow the trends, because they are always in the public eye. It's very unlikely these people actually have a healthy body image, so don't take them as an example. Strive for a healthy body, not for a fashionable one. What is in and out of style changes all the time and has nothing to do with what is healthy. You're doing great!
