Hi Jasmine & Chris! I always love your families "Passed down through the generations" Filipino recipes! I have made many of them and they were delicious! I remember when your Mom was in a video with you...showing how simple yet delicious it is to cook dry beans at home. Every time I cook them I think of your Mom when I'm putting the whole Onion in. I had never done that before and now I always do it! Thanks to your family and to you two for all of the yummy recipes, creative ideas, informative & helpful tips, eating out and featuring new items on restaurant menus videos! Oh, and just plain fun videos also. I've been watching y'all from the beginning❤. Carolyn from Texas

Hey Chris buddy, you are such a lucky guy, if you don't mind me saying. Jasmine cooking Filipino food is such a treat. I'm from New York, where we have the best restaurants, yet the craving for that authentic Filipino food is always a demand here. Americans are now slowly getting into Filipino food, when years ago its just an acquired taste. Being the dishes are both Spanish and Asian fusion, it has at least a distinctive taste than most Asian countries.

On the picadillo, if you not a fan of raisins you may omit those and instead just sprinkle a bit of sugar to add sweetness.. I don't know if you added bell peppers on it, but if not you may also add those... And regarding to the dessert, pichi pichi is part of a group of desserts called "kakanin", which also includes dishes like biko and suman... And most of the kakanin are essentially vegan but be careful when ordering those in Filipino restaurants as they tend to add cheese by default, but I think they provide those with coconut shavings which is the traditional way of serving those.....

This is so interesting. Arroz caldo definitely resembles the type of rice dishes that are commonly eaten in Spain, I grew up eating that type of dish too :) But it's so cool seeing philipino culture shine in dishes that are otherwise very recognisable dishes for me. For example, ginger in arroz caldo sounds soooo good, that's something you'd never see here 🤯 Thanks for the recipes!

Palabok is typically made with rice noodles I think, so as long as the ingredients in the rice noodles you find are 100% rice flour, it should be GF :) As for the egg, maybe substitute with tofu or leave it out altogether

i just hoped that you get the freshest ingredients. filipino foods are so basic and humble, the main appeal might be the fresh ingredient. we have the farms, the sea, the greens, and we dont have winter, we can have harvest almost 365 days a year. we rarely used imported frozen foods. the pandesal might be the most basic bread, originally just flour, salt, water, now the put milk, butter and other vegetable flour for added nutrition. the main appeal is it is always baked fresh every morning, minute away out of the oven local neighborhood/block/village bakery to your breakfast table

You could search any pansit recipe online as they available online, the good thing about pansit is that you could omit the meat and other ingredients that are not for vegans... But please note that there many kinds of noodles that can be used to create different kinds of pansit, especially those that are made with eggs (which are thick and yellow in color)... You could use rice noodles and vermicelli as the noodles...
