The Myung In branch in Diamond Bar used to be so good before the pandemic. The king dumplings, smaller steamed and fried dumplings were all so good. We also always got the red bean version in the video for the kids as a treat at the end, which they love. The most special item for me was their cold black soy bean soup noodle. I've never seen a dish like that before, and it's so unique and delicious. Just don't forget the salt. I know there are many many problems for restaurants during these times, so I'll reserve judgement for when things normalize again. But my wife took a friend to lunch there last week and she said it was a very different experience. Hope they bounce back soon. My whole family loves that place.

It is remarkable to see how ethnic food changes over time and as immigrants move to other countries. Chinese folk can tell you how varied the black bean sauce noodles that Koreans call jja-jang myun are, depending on which country you are in. There are some wonderful videos of Italians eating at Italian American places and being totally perplexed (and a little snooty). The mandu that Koreans used to eat had thick dough skins. They were rolled out like pie crusts. The thin-skin wrapped mandu came about when Korean restaurants in the US discovered how much cheaper it was to buy the factory-made thin wrappers that were used for shiu-mai and gyoza. These days, you would be hard-pressed to find a thick-skin mandu in the US. I have to go to one of my favorite Chinese restaurants to get potstickers to get a thicker skin dumpling.

The word mandu is from Chinese words meaning head of a Man. The legend states that a Chinese general had to offer a human sacrifice to appease the local tubulent sea. Instead of killing a local Man person, a dough shaped into a human head was used-thus the name of the bread “Man Tao”

I got to california once a year. Skilled last year but i always cut weight before i go there. I workout and become ripped then i cut weight for a month before going to california. So my bulk is when i get home from california. about 10 months later i start to cut and i'm talking like ufc/wrestling type cut. I want shredded abs and i want to go from 180 to 150-160. In the 2 weeks that i'm in california. I stack on SO much weight. It's unreal. I'll eat everything. IGAF. I'll purposely walk more while i'm in california just so i can eat more food. When im back at home i go on a freaking 10 month strict food diet. Only water and coffee. Then i get to california and i destroy in and out and i'll drink boba and ice tea and inhale everything. I skip all the sugary stuff just so i can put more real food in my mouth. I mean the amount of culture and food out there is insane. My heart and brain is sadden by so many businesses closing down out there. My god how can we let covid-19 and the world hit businesses so harshly. Now they can't even run their operation. Eggs used to be 10 cents each now it's 25 cents each and then everything goes up but you can't charge someone 20-30 for a meal when it used to be 10-15 Like WTH but that's how much they need to charge to survive and that's AFTER they take a profit loss. my god. my god how is this even a thing. They CAN NOT survive. AT ALL. THEY ARE THE ONES producing local jobs. Oh well. Oh well. ugh. food will bounce back but it might never be the same ever again. All the people who left didnt even have time to retrain staff or waiters or whoever so they can open up their own. It wasn't passed down. It all just ended. My god why
