Thanks for mentioning the safety switch on the blower-vac model. Saved me some time and money.

Thank you for the video, just replace coil ignition on the same blower/vac. First time fixing small engine tools. Very happy

Nice video. I have an older ES-230 (which is similar) and it has no spark. I would get it running for a while then it would stop. It did that a few times. So I am thinking it is the coil and not the switches. But I will test the switches first.

Exactly how the video I was looking for. Thx. You didn’t happen to measure the resistance of the old coil primary and secondary and compare It against the new one did you? That would help me troubleshoot mine. Thx!

If the magnet and coil aren’t gapped correctly, will that cause the blower to not run or cause no spark? I have the same model that is from 2014 and I am not getting spark. I’ve primed through the carb and it will not fire.

The air gap between the coil and magnets is critical to have spark.

Just make sure your spark plug is good as well and that the leads are clean and connected.

If there is corrosion/oxidation between the coil and block will that stop spark?

The coil needs to grounded to the block. I would think it would be unlikely due to the mounting screws screwed into the block, creating a ground.

Unlikely, but not impossible. It does happen. If you’ve already exposed the magneto it’s easy enough to remove it and use fine emery cloth to polish up all contacting surfaces.
