Wow! The genesis of genius! Will's guitar on 'Happy Death Men' is a portent of potent siesmic sonic booms into the stratosphere to come! Epic!

Met Ian in the pub after a Liverpool match once, he gave me a good half an hour's worth of conversation about all sorts, from the Ramones to the Lost Boys movie. We shared the same pub for years but I only crossed paths with him once or twice.

This was pre-Pete De Freitas era Bunnymen with Echo, the drum machine. What a difference he would make to the rhythm section and to the overall sound of the band.! He was a vital member indeed.

Well found. Nice accompaniment to the end of Will Sergeant's new memoir "Bunnyman". I bought the audiobook which he narrates, glad I did. Nice one Will. Can't wait for next installment :)

I played Erics weeks later in my own band and walked home again with my guitar in my hand and it was thick snow. We have very mild Sep - January compared to the 70s and 60s snow came before Christmas alot in those days but now it snows in March and late Feb as it did just several years back. The Bunnymen played 2 gigs in Erics around that time.Yes i remember the converstaion clearly we asked him if he thought they would make it and he said he did not know he walked up Everton valley in the snow which by the way is miles from where he lived but everyone walked home in them days because we were skint.

Reading Will Sergeants book I noted they saw Joy Division play at Eric's three times just before this performance. Even though they they feigned indifference, you can't help notice the similarities in vocal style with Ian Curtis here.

The whole indifference thing isn’t quite right, and not what I got from Will’s book. See from 7mins 40 secs into this vid about Eric’s …explains what happened ..same as I remember from the book. And tbh I don’t see any obvious Curtis influence here on Mac… there’s similarities of the time, and there were some commonalities between post punk bands sounds. kzitem.info/news/bejne/up-tvJeHoZ6Ad4o

Bollocks...doesn't sound anything like Ian Curtis. I saw either The Bunnymen's 1st or 2nd gig at Eric's (no one there)... and regularly saw Warsaw and JD and they don't sound remotely alike..

Ian always enjoyed a ciggie n me too . He still can sing great despite smoking. Alcohol is no good tho as makes you go out of tune.
