Very useful information. Ended up here with crank no start, only when it rains.

amazing . can this start as an intermittent fault and then eventually not start ?

Yes thats exactly how it start off. Sometimes it will be difficult to start then eventually gets to the point when it will not start, as seen in this video.

thanks for the video now here is my story i drive a 2007 Toyota Mark x its has the 4GR engine this Engine is similar OR almost Similar to the engine in Lexus is250, many years ago i developed a minor problem with transmission Which seemed to clear away by itself the car Would REV so high(4000RPM) and the rev will not match the speed it was engaging gears 1, 2, 3 but omitting 4 ,5,6 reported to mechanic .. all he did was disconnect the negative side of the battery terminal and reconnect it back then the car performed well with no problem Many months later this problem came once in a while and i did resolve it by disconnecting the battery terminal the problem became more and or routine service i asked the dealer to service my gear box by changing the ATF which was done and problem still persisted, one day on routine battery service the technical told me my battery voltage is low(9.0)V There was no Check engine light , no Battery flashing all good) He Said "U NEED TO REPLACE YOUR ALTERNATOR SOON"look like the alternator is not charging well, he allowed me to drive Few weeks later the Starter died and we had to replace it after replacing the STARTER 2 months passed by and the second STARTER ALSO died we replaced it with a new STARTER thereby after 3 months the ALTERNATOR "DIED/FAILED" question 1 WAS THE POOR OR LOW VOLTAGE FROM THE ALTERNATOR CAUSING THE STARTERS TO DIE? 2. WAS THE LOW VOLTAGE ALSO CAUSING THE COMPUTER TO MALFUNCTION we replaced THE ALTERNATOR and on that replacement we got a volt reading of 12.4V now back to the Transmission the problem became more common NOW I HAD to always reset the ECU by disconnecting the negative side of the battery every time i want to drive and when i switch off the car if i have to drive it i have to reset by the same procedure and this became annoying on diagnostic no error code was captured THEN gear box dealer decided we replace the shift solenoid which we did all 8 of them same problem car shift 123 not 456 Very annoying he then decided its an electrical problem then we took to electrician he Scanned said error codep0176( shift body solenoid c remain open) learning p603 engine stall history He said he cannot fix my car because which 2 " am not sure if its the gear box or ECU OR WIRING" GAVE ME MORE HEADACHE 3.Imay be forced to strip off the car and that is too much of a job to do definitely Replaced TIL I SAW THIS VIDEO QUESTION 1 from my history do u think this is an ECU PROBLEM 2.I CANT FIND A TRANSMISSION WIRING DIAGRAM ANYWHERE ON THS CAR WILL CHANGING THE ECU NEW ECU BE A HELP remember the disconnecting and connecting battery terminal to reset then the car wud function well Please help my e mail mikdan2006@yahoo.com mik2013@gmail.com

Interesting case, first question when the alternator was replaced the 1st time was the battery properly tested? Or replaced at the same time. Second question, what exactly went wrong with the alternator? Did it at any point start overcharging the car? This can cause ECU problems. Third question were the old starter motors stripped and checked to see what caused them to fail? These are the some of the first things which should be checked in order to track down where the problem is. Generally on these later model Toyota & Lexus cars the ECUs are fine and only give issues when there is an over voltage condition, damaged wiring, accident damage or water ingress.

i Have tthe 2 starter That were Replaces They are Denzo toyota Lexus Clearly Marked 12V rEMEMBER in my story the BatteryAlternator was Providing Low Voltage, am not a amechanic but Could the prolonged Low Voltage from the Alternator over a period of years Causes the Starter to Die and Affected the ECU ALSO, What do u think Sir?

@@michaeldande Constant low voltage would damage the starter. Its not easy finding a repair manual for the Toyota Mark. What I would suggest is the communication wires between the trans, ECU and engine would have to be checked, you should be able to possibly use a similar Toyota and get a wiring diagram from www.alldata.com/diy-us/en. Its hard to diagnose an intermittent without actually checking the car in person.

I just replaced all the caps on my jzs147 ecu and still no start. My spare ecu has the same bad caps and ot fores up just runs like sht. The ecu i reppaced caps on had the same bad ones and ran the same way. Now it womt run at all.

@@RachelsPartyOf5 if it's the pins of a capacitor then just buy a replacement cap and desolder the old one etc, if it ate away a PCB trace, then you can use copper tape as a temporary fix I fixed my shat capacitors last year that ate through the tracks this way which let me test run other stuff until I installed a replacement ecu ....ya gonna have to replace the ECU though, the other control modules should be checked out as well though cos they all got dodgy capacitors

How did you fix the traces on board and whats that spray
@AutoBuddynz
2 жыл бұрын
The tracks on the board were fixed using enameled copper coated wires. The spray is called circuit board lacquer. Its not an easy repair if tracks are damaged, ideally it would help if your firmilar with circuit board repairs or know someone who is.

Best to start with the basics first. Testing for fuel, spark, air etc before faulting the ecu
