Very unique performer. For years, I only ever knew him as a dramatic actor, occasionally touched with humor. His naturally engaging personality always came through but he was totally natural & believable in hardcore dramatic roles. His unique voice always made one want to listen. The fact it wasn't mellifluous, deep, or resonant made it made interesting, I think, & contributed to his believability in dramatic roles; in other words, he didn't sound---or look---like a stage-trained actor, the type that performs with smooth perfection all the mannerisms & reactive facial expressions of a professional. The quavery quiver in his voice, though Wynn easily could employ it for comical effect, made him a distinct presence in films nonetheless. He was a true veteran survivor of show-business. Others weren't so lucky.
