I carry a Manager every day with an Olight i1r clipped to it. Would not be without it no matter what else I have. That said, I own more than one Dime. A lot of people knock the Dime (and some tools like the file are just terrible) but it has some good features. 1. Pliers. Are they great? No. Are they better than nothing. Heck yes! I mostly use them like forceps, not really as pliers. 2. Bottle opener. It's amazing. 3. Blade. Gerber's rather blah 7cr17 but it takes a great edge if you put a little time in. Doesn't hold it for long but hones right back up. 4. Package opener. Same as the blade. Sharpen it and it works well. 5. Price. If I lose it my heart won't break (unlike my Leatherman Squirt).

1) A great thing about the Dime is that you can disassemble it and take out the knife to make it "TSA friendly". 2) SAK Manager is my EDC just wish the orange peeler on the miniChamp replaced the knife. 3) Some other great mini multitools: Nextool Mini Flagship & the NexTool Mini Sailor Scissors 4) Swisstech has a copy of the SAK Classic SD called the Listig 7 for half the price of the SD Classic.

This never occurred to me. What a good idea! Assuming you can get it apart without stripping the screw heads. I'll have to try it!

The Dime was very attractive to me on paper, then I got one and it was depressing. The blade of it is nearing the metal quality and edge retaining of a broken beercan. The package opener is an OK idea, glad they did not add a can opener instead, which would be almost as useless as the file on it, which is really just for ornament. The pliers is probably the best part of it, although I never got to use it, but that is not the tool's fault. The scissors however cannot be even mentioned on the same page as the VIC scissors which are probably the best multitool scissors ever produced. The Gerber Dime scissors can only cut paper basically, maybe thin threads, and I do not know what went wrong, maybe factory seconds, but mine had its scissors spring broken in two months, which renders it unusable. The place where I bought it from tried to get a replacement from Gerber (25 years warranty khm khm) and they were unsuccessful after several tries to get it, so they gave my money back. Such a shame, as the looks and the plans for the Dime are great, only the realisation and the actual product is trash. Avoid!

....and i have the victorinox minichamp and its a descent wellmade little product. i absolutely do not regret purchasing it. Im waiting for a pack with magnets etc to come in the mail and use this for my EDC. For the size i maybe should have gotten the rambler but i like the setup on the minichamp with the pen, the package opener etc.

The only super small "multitool" piece that I've found to be useful is the Victorinox nail clip. Same size as the sd but a bit thicker.

I actually quite enjoy the dime and have found a lot of the tools to be very useful for small tasks around the house. I also have a rambler on the way, so I'm looking forward to adding that to my carry and trying it out! Cheers for the video!

Dime's scissors are left handed, trying to cut using the right hand makes them underperform.

if you turn the dime upside down, then they become right handed
