My minimum carry calibre is .577 T-rex and I never leave the house without several thousand rounds of ammunition, plate body armor, two backup guns, a katana, three to four knives, pepper spray, a taser, and a tactical pen. Also, due to my extensive training in karate, kung fu, thai boxing, krav maga, greco roman wrestling, and Mexican wrestling (where I competed for nine seasons as "El Perro Loco") my hands and feet have been registered as deadly weapons in 32 states, as well as Puerto Rico and Guam. In addition I have the complete MacGyver television series (rated 7.7/10 on IMDB) playing on a continuous loop above the three year supply of bottled water and MREs in my subterranean, concrete bunker. As a result I feel confident in my ability to adaptively engineer my way out of any situation using only the resources at hand, including but not limited to constructing or disarming any thermonuclear device (up to a yield of 5 kilotons) using nothing more than an ordinary kitchen spatula, D sized lithium batteries (rechargeable), steel wool, the scrapings from 3247 antique radium watch faces, a tube of Crest brand "dazzling white" toothpaste, duct tape, and a #2 pencil. In order to remain alert and vigilant I have studied the ancient art of Venkatanarasimharajuvaripeta Yoga and now require only one hour of sleep per day and when I do sleep I have trained myself to sleep standing up with open eyes so as to appear awake to any potential adversary. In summary, I am prepared.

Great EDC, thanks for the update. Nice choice of the Leatherman S2. I've owned a Leatherman CS4 for about 15 years and it's similar. I've used that multi-tool on countless wilderness trips, but never thought to carry it everyday. I might start doing that! Also, the Kershaw/Emerson CQC-10K is a great knife for the money. I carried that knife for a few months at work, but then decided on a smaller folder (Kershaw Barstow). I work in an office environment and the CQC was a bit large for my needs at work.

Two things. I have pretty much 2 edc set ups these days. The light weight version is basically the squirt ps4, nitecore tip, and Benchmade bug out, and Glock 42. I don’t think it gets more capable and lightweight that that. My heavier duty version I’ve switched from the juice s2 and a blade to carrying a Leatherman skeletool as my primary blade with a Leatherman micra on the keys for scissors. Light will be upgraded to olight s1r turbo, and gun will be upgraded to Sig 365.

Question for ya'll: I was at a gun store and a fellow shopper a several feet down from me is looking at a gun. He was holding it in his hand and then tiled it side was to look at the side of the gun. When he did that the barrel was pointing right at me and I did not like that. I know was not intentional and the gun had just be given to him by the seller from the case, but I still felt uncomforable. Was this inappropriate gun handling by the customer or am I just being overly sensitve? Thanks.

Sorry, but I might have missed something. What do you carry all this stuff in, or just your pockets of your clothes? Handgun; Now I know that this is a topic that is VERY personal and likes/dislikes play a role, so here goes with what I would carry. Instead of the Glock 19, I would opt for the FN Five seveN Mk3 MRD, recently released. With the updates to the venerable original, FN have eliminated 90% of objections folk have had with the weapon, and retained all of the strengths! Compared to the Glock19, the Five seveN is no bigger, significantly lighter, MUCH lower recoil, thus much easier to shoot (especially for those of smaller stature), very accurate, longer effective range, higher mag capacity (20 + 1), the 5,7 x 28mm round is more effective/lethal than 9mm, and, most important of all, it is an FN! With a good red dot optic, it is now the ultimate handgun. It also comes fully prepared for adding a MRD and suppressor (FN recommend several good ones). Why would I carry a Glock? What ? It's expensive? Of course it's expensive! I'm going to be stake my life on it, so why would that even be a factor? I've owned and shot FNs for 50 years and sold every one for more than I paid for them. Much more! I trust them! Juice S2. Again, personal preference, but I'd still carry the Leatherman Wave Plus, and in a pouch on my belt. I'd still carry my usual Victorinox as my "pocket knife", as it does some things better than the Leatherman (blade, scissors, awl are all far superior) but the Leatherman has a saw! I would probably not carry a fixed blade in an EDC, but for outdoors, that is a whole different scenario, for some other video. Just thought I'd share with you. Cheers mate.

Anyway, since you went to Glock, how about checking out the new Ruger PC9 as a Take-Down Carbine for a Bugout Bag? It has the adapter that allows you to use Glock magazines, including the 33 rounders. On your side of the Praries, your Critters tend to be just a LEETLE BIT BIGGER than the ones over here by the Great Lakes. Plus with all those Dopers moving to Colorado, AND the Opiod Crisis, well, you might need a few more bullets out there. Take Care Aaron.

Perhaps somewhat in the same idea, I have omitted a folder from my edc and went with a Leatherman Sidekick clipped in my pocket like I used to for my folder. This gives me far more utility at hand including a one hand opening blade. This allows me to then “upgrade” to a fixed blade knife which has far more capability than a folder.

Aaron, I wonder why you don´t carry a watch featuring an Altimeter (like e.g. the Suunto Vector)? As myself you seem to live in a mountainous area. I always carry the Suunto Clipper COMPASS (thanks to YOUR Recommendation) but even MORE often I need an Altimeter. Besides, you can use it as kind of a weather forecast instrument.
@wartstein8814
6 жыл бұрын
Hello, I get what you mean... But let me explain: I never thought of an urban enviroment of course. I am in the outdoors a lot, always very mountainous areas here in Austra / Europe (middle of the Alps). In fact, I use my altimeter-watch a lot and I NEED it a lot. First and foremost for orientation. Since I do not like modern stuff like GPS, but navigating by map, compass and altimeter. Say it gets dark and I am looking for a shelter to sleep and I know which altitude its located. Say I climb up a colouir and can see on the map at which altitude is a good point to get out of it. Say I want to navigate, just aim for a certain peak by compass and than draw a line to the ALTITUDE I am at the moment and so on. As for the wrist compass: You are totally right, the price is quite a lot to high up. But it is very convinient not having to pull out a larger compass for quick orientation but having one on your wrist. And THIS one is the only one that actually works (tried cheaper chinese ones, total crap). So, to cut a long story short: I myself really use and need these items for orientation. But only when I am in the outdoors. A city-guy does not need an altimeter/compass watch, would be ridicolous. Hope I could explain what I mean (since I am not a native speaker in english) All the best to you.

I'd disagree with not using a knife for self defense. You're born knowing how to use it. Point towards threat, stab. Knives have been used as weapons for so long it's stupid to think you're going to hurt yourself more than the aggressor. Look at the amount of homicides using knives and research how many of those people were trained. Let me guess, zero? Or very close to that.
@switchy3214
6 жыл бұрын
Using a knife for self defence is foolish, unless the other party is unarmed. With knife fights, one party dies at the scene, the other dies in the ambulance. Running is much more viable, even if they have a gun (note, this is assuming a mugging, not an assassination).

Truck has a multi tool, water, tape, cord etc. Day to day living I have found as I get older that lighter with the right selections is more comfortable and just as useful. Remember that usually I am at work with specialty tools, home with everything available for tasks, outdoors I generally pack appropriately. There is usually a “base” with more items supper close by. Over all decent video, and i know it wasnt really the point of the video but i got a real issue with your comment about using a knife as a weapon. You say not to use it with out training and possible weapon charges that could result from using it. If you are dealing with asocial violence and you are worried about getting hurt, cut, etc or the leavel of training or lack there of that you might have with a potential available weapon at hand or concerned about laws. Then you've already most likely lost the fight as you,ve put yourself into a victim mindset and defensive mode. This kind of thinking will get you seriously hurt and maybe even killed. Your thinking is more inline with a social aggresion situation. And those types of situations you should de-escalate and always walk away from.

HARMARSCH2 I’m right there with you. Mines always on my hip too. This guy keeps showing a new knife or two every single week. One has to wonder where his loyalty truly is. I don’t want to hear about all of the Knives that he makes videos about, I’m only interested in the knife that he actually carries each and every day. I have tons of Knives, but it’s my Buck 112 that’s always in my pocket.....ALWAYS!

Agreed 100% about the Buck 112. I’ve never seen any of his videos before. It was up on my que the last few days. To be honest when he started talking I thought he was someone from another channel I sub to.

I'm going through the same process now, I've only ever carried single stacks and I'll be getting the gen 5 g19 soon as well as going from a leatherman micra to a larger sog tool etc. And even when it comes to clothing going from a lot of drawstring cargo pants to more 5.11 type stuff. If I'm gonna carry guns and knives and tools anyway I feel better with the big boy stuff than the mouse gear.

For practicality, if you truly want the round capacity out of the G19 why don't you just carry your SigP320 Compact?

#gideonstactical Love seeing your EDC videos man, keep up the great work! I prefer to have as little on my keychain as possible, so I opt for a belt-carry multi-tool, but to each their own. Also, bought the Manix off your recommendation and absolutely love it.

Cutlery shop has an orange manix 2 LW exclusive in s90v which in my opinion better than all the other steel options other than Maxemet. But it's orange! So a true backpacking/camping dream. 👍

Love the Juice S2. I often carry one. But, I always carry a Gerber Dime. It slides into the bottom of my jeans pocket, with (but not attached to) my keys. You don't even know it's there. Love the Dime. I just ordered 2 more from Amazon, on 4-1-18. They were priced at $11.01! ... Nice utilitarian wallet. Hard to beat a GShock. NiteCore Tube is a great keychain light. So light, you don't even know it's there. I also carry an OLight S1R or a ThruNite Ti4. So many good pocket knives. Got lotsa Gerbers & Spydercos. Great video!

you never know when you might need to start a fire accidents happen and id rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it. no one is advocating starting randoms fire in the middle of urban areas. your are either a troll or you need to go back to school and work on your reading comprehension skills.

I use to carry a handful of items on my keychain. Then found out that the ignition system on the cars steering column can wear out prematurely and cause failures because of the weight of a heavy keychain. If you're still going to rock the multiple items on a keychain, I'd recommend having a detachable system for your car key. Good video by the way! Looking for a kydex holster for my SG 320. Might go with your CYA suggestion.

Do you really need 4 folder knives and a multi tool ? I mean really if the multi tool is worth a damn it should have a decent blade on it so I can see having a multi tool and a dedicated pocket knife and even a good fixed blade but four folders is just ridiculous all that space and weight could be used for other more useful items.
@gideonstactical

Bobby Hempel wow, I must not of articulated my thought very well in this video. I was showing four folders that I rotate through depending on the day or the situation for my EDC. I never carry four pocket knives on me ever that would be silly.

Due to my job I am unable to carry a knife to work since they can say it's a weapon and fire my ass. But I still carry my Leatherman Charge tti via a Maxpedition single sheath pouch. Sure, it's bulky but I'm used to the weight. when out and about I usually add a Spyderco paramilitary 2, or it's larger sibling; or a Rat-1. Not interested in guns so I don't carry them.
