I use to go see Eddie back in the mid 70's when I was in high school, in Chicago, when Ronald and Bradley were in the band. Still have a lot of vinyl of his. Just found this and delighted to see all these guys again! And noticed Brad Bobo posted this - thanks for sharing Brad!!

Wow! The percussion section alone is worth listening to and learning from. When you Eddie Harris the whole group reaches CRITICAL MASS and explodes with the force of nuclear fusion.

I must have watched this video more than 15 times since I discovered it less than a week ago. It is seriously one of the best clips I've seen on KZitem for ages (actually, since I unearthed footage of a virtuoso performance by Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters...but that's another story..). So thanks heaps for posting Brad. It's musicianship like this that reminds me why I've been avidly buying records for over 30 years!

no one ever pulled as much out of a 1-IV vamp as Eddie and company (and what a company!). those New Orleans guys do it nightly....everyone gets really drunk and dances. this would not have the same flavor/vibe without Mr. Raheem. Ronald Muldrow shows us how rhythm guitar ought to sound. five stars to this.

Robert Walsh The Keystone; Dec. '77 Red Garland "a religious experience". Philly Joe Jones played drums so hard you'd think he'd levitate. Leroy Vinegar on stand up bass. After the main show all kinds of local musicians crowded the stage for a chance to jam with Red.
