Masonite good choice still using the ones I made back in the 1980's. At this point I found they need to be cleaned wet or leather hard, if I let the clay dry on them it starts to peal up the Masonite when scraping clean. I like them cut round so they can be cleaned easy when still on the wheel. Great video, just the motivation I need to make some extra larges. Like the idea of drilling a stack of them. I think I'll use one I got right as a templet otherwise I'd probably get them all wrong. Oh and hay tie up the hair when using power tools.

Yes Lol I agree with the hair, I made some masonite bats a little over 3 years ago and they still work great. I wanted to make some larger one's about 14 or 15 inches and increase the number of smaller ones I have. Glad the sieve is working well.

Great tips. Might be getting a wheel and this will help cut costs. Thanks

Excellent demonstration and ideas. But for those who are loath to drill holes in their wheel, try using two thin bamboo sticks held tight together to lift the larger pieces from the wheel. (It's the traditional way here in Japan, and in in other Asian cultures.)

Hi Eddie, saw you on Simon and Jeff's videos and really appreciate your thought process. Will be making some bats once I find a source for the masonite (Lowes does not have smooth on both sides locally) What thickness do you use? Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for subscribing and the Lowe's lumberware hardware store here in Decatur will special order the glossy type that 1/4 inch thick thats 4ft by 8 ft. I'm not saying that the store in your aera will do the same thing but it don't hurt to ask. I can make 32 bats with a 4 by 8 sheet or less if you make bigger ones. I hope you have good luck on this.

Freddie unsure of what size store you have in your area, check back in the contrackers area where they order special items. I was at Lowes today and thats what they suggested. I was picking up items for my next youtube video.

What thickness did you use? The thickest I have been able to source is 0.175"

It is a full 1/4 of a inch. it is the masonite that has a coating on one side. Lowes, home depot, menards, don't have it. I found it at a small lumber yard just outside of town. I found some 1/4 inch ones but they did not have the presser treating on one side. Thanks for asking.

I did find some of the presser treated ones at a different lumber yard that sells lumber for cabinets.
