Rest in Peace Mr. Arnold. Did you know he was considered radical in his day? He was the first Country Singer to appear on stage with just a microphone. First Country singer to appear in a tuxedo. He brought Country music out of the moonshine hills and into the city. Class act indeed!

God bless Eddy Arnold. His voice exuded such kindness. We could use more of that today.

Great Clip - There was a time......when you could tell one country singer from another, and the songs were better written and not so formulaic... I sure miss those times - Rest in Peace, Mr. Arnold

When was growing up, my parents had the best of Eddie ARnold Album, I always thought it was god awful music when i was younger. BUT now, I just downloaded several songs from that album on i-tunes. What a great voice. I guess I've grown to be just like my parents - which is a good thing, Thanks Mom & Dad.

when I was a kid, all my friends were listening to rock and roll, the Beatles etc. But i discovered country music at 12 or 13. One summer we were visiting Asbury Park, NJ and Eddy was doing a concert there, and I convinced my family to go to it. After that concert, mom was not worried about my "new music" choice. Even my sisters who were Beatle fans loved it. His opening act was the Stoneman Family, featuring "Pop'". No one in my Jersey family had ever seen such a show. It was great. I later went to school in Tennessee and saw Eddy every time he came to Memphis and once in Laughlin, Nevada, for the last time. I wish there were more videos of his concerts.

What a voice. One of the greatest crooners. A casette tape of his early recordings made the early 90's a lot more fun for me being in a foreing country. I played the tape constantly.

I loved Eddy Arnold in the early 1950's and on when Little Roy Wiggins played the steel Guitar. Lots of people don't know this, but he left the Grand Ole Opry (quit) in his prime and was never invited back to sing there again. Little Roy said playing for Eddy Arnold was like a business, but playing for George Morgan was like playing for a friend. He and George Morgan became very close friends after Roy and the entire Eddy Arnold band was fired. Eddy Arnold "let go" of his entire band in the late 1960's. Little Roy had been with him for 25 years. I think E.A. got too big for his britches. After firing his band he started recording with big orchestras. " Make The World Go Away" was a typical example. He once said he did not consider himself to be a country artist. In other words, he was up there with Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and that group. He lost many of his country music fans back then also. I noticed he went to Chet Atkins funeral when Chet died, but to my knowledge he did not go to Little Roy's funeral in 1999. He lost my attention when he and Little Roy Wiggins parted company. (It a sad story in my opinion.)
