Red, check your intake area for vacuum leaks, you seem to be getting too much air.

I just bought a edelbrock AVS2 650 CARB for my SB 350. I installed it and everything was fine. When I started the truck it idled at 2500 rpms and its usually 1000. Can you please sent me some advice on what to adjust and in proper order. Thanks a bunch in advance. Oh it also has a RV cam in it.

You most likely either have a vacuum leak or the fast idle cam setting for the choke is set too high.

My 75 Firebird has a Edelbrock Carb 600 Cfm Electric Choke. With a 400 engine. You could go for a lower Cfm Carb.

I have a 1970 Chevrolet C20 with a 350 and an edelbrock carb. Truck starts and then after a while it progressively increases rpms. I kick the choke off and it idles fine. Normal? I thought it should be high rpms at first. Also when I give it some gas like on the highway it backfires. Any suggestions? Thanks

Q-jets are a fine carb, (as close to FI as a carb can get IMHO) I never once came across this soaked float thing I hear tell of. I've had a lot of Q-jets pass thru my hands for a rebuild over the years and sure all were wore out to the point of needing shaft bushings but very few were tossed, just the unfixable few heavily corroded marine ones or where dummys over tighten the fuel inlet fitting and strip or crack its housing. Not one had a problem with their floats, mainly idle issues because of excessive primary shaft wear. I do like Edelbrock stuff but I'm an old man, an all GM kind of fellow and a Q-jet's the carb of choice for my old cars and trucks, always will be.
