They were not angry ... they were manifesting the story and the spirit of the famous monster "Frankenstein". That legendary novel from 1818 is where the Frankenstein monster and all the Frankenstein movies come from. They named the song Frankenstein because they felt that they were sewing together a bunch of parts (just as the monster Frankenstein was made in the story) to make a new being, a new thing. You absolutely need to do a reaction to the Winters doing the song "Tobacco Road" as some people have pointed out and given the link to, below. FWIW ... Tobacco Road is on youtube at the title ... Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter - Tobacco Road (Live)

Edgar was the first to strap on a keyboard that he called the keytar. The idea came to him when he was checking out the newest synthesizers, which is what he's playing. Edgar has one more instrument you didn't hear. His voice. You need to check out Tobacco Road. It's different but better. Song is called Frankenstein as it was stitched together by a bunch of small pieces. I'm pretty sure he was playing with the amplifier and feedback. His brother was standing there with the guitar also adding to the feedback reverberation. If you watch closely you'll see him holding his guitar up to the speaker. Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull is also an excellent multi instrumentalist. Actually quite a few. Frank Zappa could literally play anything. Stevie Wonder Paul McCartney.... 🚜🤠🐂

There were a LOT of multi-instrumentalists around back in the day. What passes now for musicianship is nothing like what it once was.

Edgar has played sax on a lot of tracks, including Tina Turner's "SImply The Best". In his 70s he is still performing, currently he's touring with Ringo Starr.

Several artists could play multiple instruments…but not during a live performance in the same song.

This is like the monster that Victor Frankenstein created out of many different parts. I think that’s why they called it that.

That was a great reaction! Edgar is amazing, as was everyone else in this band. And guess what? The man can sing, too! You should check out Edgar and his brother Johnny (Blues Hall of Fame guitarist) shredding the blues on Tobacco Road live (kzitem.info/news/bejne/wpxm2IpsnZ6akqQ). And then, don't pass up a chance to listen to the most beautiful song you've never heard: Edgar's Dying to Live (kzitem.info/news/bejne/0KZ9vHuBsJGdd4o). Actually, you might have heard part of it...sampled in Tupac's Runnin'. I really hope you give these songs a listen. I promise, you won't be disappointed and you'll be amazed at how versatile Edgar is.

Just stumbled upon this video and your channel and glad I did! First comment too! I am so happy when I see young(er) generations appreciate the music we enjoyed and grew up with. No auto tune, no mixing, just pure, exceptional music. Keep going with your digs, you'll be glad you did!

10:40 Here's someone else who can play many instruments and sing (including Rush songs) : kzitem.info/news/bejne/loCGz5WJsJyle20 kzitem.info/news/bejne/upmdl3yqrmh0Zqg kzitem.info/news/bejne/0X6NsHurb36QmqA The device Edgar was manipulating on the back is the ARP series 2000 analog synthesizer that's linked to the strapped keyboard, he was modifying the different sound parameters (low frequency oscillator, filters, envelope, delay, decay...) just like people did in the 80's with a TB303 or nowadays on a DAW (digital audio workstation) with VST (virtual studio technology) plug-ins.

Yeah man. FRANKENSTEIN. That keyboard and whatever that panel in the back was is completely analog. No digital effects at all in 1973.

You need to know that 1973 was the era of the super groups. The list of amazing songs in that year is too long to list here.

This performance is from the era of talent being the driver - not giant egos, money or corporate greed. Today we're marketed marginal talent to sell sneakers, fragrances and clothing lines. Musical talent is lost in that shuffle.

Edgar and his brother Johnny are both albino, the very blond hair, light sensitive, spent a lot of their youth inside learning to play instruments. Johnnys main instrument guitar.

I saw Edgar Winter open for Hank Williams Jr and The Charlie Daniels band in 1998. He was still cool.
