For those who don't already know: the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the biggest arts festival in the world, which lasts the whole of August every year. Many of the locals avoid it, or try to, so they claim. It is called the 'Fringe' because it started as a small festival timed to coincide with the International Festival, which used the big prestigious venues. Today, when Brits refer to the 'Edinburgh Festival' they often mean the Fringe, which has grown since 1947 into a farcically enormous entity, with well over 3,000 different shows.
Apologies for the misty patch in the picture. My new camera had something on the lens, and I couldn't find any lens cleaning fluid. I bought a microfibre cloth, but that failed to shift it. The pale grey fluff that lurks in the bottom corner of some shots is the microphone wind-shield, which fitted my old camera, but not this new one.
