I saw this play here in Chile ( where I am from) and at the first 5 minutes there were at least 5 people crying , it's extremely emotional and well written .

Nice idea, but there are obviously one or two "plants" in the audience.

he chats with the audience for like 20 minutes beforehand and he hands out these slips to the ones he think would want to participate in the act

No. There are no plants. There are different people who read it every night. You go out into the audience before you start and talk to them. The ones who talk back you get to participate, the ones who don't you don't ask them to. You have out 7 sheets of paper to random people you think will read them. Then you yell out the number, the number on their paper has a word, they call out what is on the piece of paper you give them. They have no clue what is in store for the night.

Even if they had been plants - so what, if it worked?

John Neville-Andrews i've seen the show, got to read one out. Can guarantee there aren't any plants! Audiences are usually keen to join in if you make them feel welcome enough ☺️
