Thanks for the video! Can you tell me if the wetness of the nib remains consistent after inking, or do you notice it begin to “thin out” a bit as you use it?

An issue for me would be why we (and I do also) question pens at U.S. $275, when Italian pens (which so often seem ridiculously over-priced) often command prices of $600 or more for their somewhat mundane level gold pens. I get it when an exotic substance (for the volcanic base of the Visconti nearly indestructible Homo sapiens) adds to the expense, but I believe the quality of my Collier is superior to many more expensive pens. Does it come down to branding, which is hard to change for Edison, because the company was founded to make high quality pens for all of us?

Nice review on both counts. Must say, did not realize that on those pens, you can't post the caps on the other end. I don't mind that the body itself has writing engraved into it, but the inability to post is a deal-breaker for me. Nearly ordered the pen, but decided to look at reviews first. Very glad I found your's. Thank you so much for taking the time to make it.

Your videos are so good! This covers everything I want to know and more! I love the idea of the gold nib but the price jump is alarmingly steep, would definitely go with the steel since that also gets rave reviews.

Thanks for the review! Quick questions - what would be the Edison pen you most prefer so far, in terms of comfort, aesthetics, and etc etc?

It pronounced "Cawl-YER from Collier county Florida where Edison spent some of his time...not some faux french twist lol

I'm a big fan of Edison gold nibs and have upgraded all my Edisons to 18k. Incidentally they will also swap out with your FC pens in case you didn't know. Also a good source for replacement JoWo nib units for both is fpnibs.con and I've got a few 14k and 18k nibs from them. Great tea--had it iced the last time I was at David's. Don't think I'd like it hot but super perfect iced without sugar. Great video my friend. (Side note: I hate pointy pens with a red hot passion of a million burning suns)

another wonderful review! I am a poster of pens so a pen that cannot be posted is a deal breaker. Why even make a pen that does not or cannot be posted defies all laws of fountain pens.

Probably a stupid question but where did you get the tea?

Steel Nib vs Gold Nib? The jury is out to some extent for me. Over the years (decades) I ahev had my share of Montblancs, Watermans, Lamys and so forth. But memory colours and clouds recollections so I'll restrict my comments to two current pens. I have a Lamy 200 Broad gold nib and it is so smooth that there is little feedback to inform the hand. Glassy smooth and, on Rhodia or ClaireFontaine, little sense of control of movement - it is imperative to watch like an eagle to keep to the lines, dots or grids of practice paper. In attempt to amend this I have just purchased an additional Lamy 2000 with a Medium nib in the hope that there'll be some advantage. The other 'good' pen I have at present is the Faber-Castel E-Motion with Medium nib which, of course, is a steel nib. Albeit a seemingly perfect steel nib. There is absolutely NO negative experience with the Faber-Castell whatsoever. It is glorious and has all the smoothness of the Lamy gold nib with the added benefit of a modicum of feedback. The medium is a bit fine to my eye but only a tad. on the subject of tea, another long-held passion of mine, have you tried or reviewed any of the French teas? In particular I am quite enthusiastic about the almost ethereal qualities of Marriage Frères tea from Paris. A local French lunch, aptly named 'The larder', spot brews and serves it by the pot and it is simply devine - even if prohibitively expensive. Walter

I enjoyed your review... I found you through Matt Armstrong's currently Inked blogcast. I like your approach to reviewing and your opinions. It's good to have an idea how much the pens cost so that's appreciated too. Have you heard of Mr Pen italix pens??? Have a look if you like... Mr Pen. Co. UK and look his italix section up. He has product reviews as well. Currently I have two. The Captains Commission and the Imperium. Hope you find an example on your European holiday... Best wishes LeZc @@
