It's very annoying when someone do digitization but still you have to make it correct.

Have you done a video on rubbersheeting in Pro? I can't find many videos on it. I hate when I am editing a new subdivision and the curves don't match from a previous subdivision. Rubbersheet seems like the best tool, but I want to make sure I'm fully understanding how to use it.
@GISChops

I have not. I usually make older stuff match newer, more accurate stuff. I’ll have to look at it, I’ve never used rubber sheeting in my workflow.

@@GISChops yea me either! My boss always wants me to go off the history and plat books and match it to that but to me it makes more sense to update everything to the new and still keep record (in the history feature class).

I have used Arc for 4 years now. Not as a pro...not as an novice user.... but as a twice a week user as no one at work understand arc or what type of data to use or keep. Anyways.... these help videos always have me roaring in my guts. These tips and tricks that astound arc users have been developed 25 years ago in Autocad. No idea why Arc users seem to think its the absolute best program on earth for mapping. Its not. Its far from it. Its the biggest mindfuck in human history. Export your shape files to cad and save years of life on your soul. Also.... the match properties button in Cad is literally a half a second click with no other worries about uaing the command.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. GIS is more than a mapping platform, the power of GIS is the ability to analyze the data, not just display the data.

I am enjoying your ArcGIS Pro Parcel Fabric demonstrations. Would you consider creating one to show how you undertake spatial upgrade (improvement) of a section of ArcPRO Parcel Fabric. The scenario I am after is when a section of Parcel Fabric was originally built using inaccurate linework and the GIS officer wants to correct the spatial representation of those lots by entering correct COGO information for the lots from the source survey. The existing PF parcel lines have no COGO attribution, are mis-shaped and not in their true coordinate position. There is no new survey, so it would be a quality driven workflow. Currently we maintain our cadastral records in an Arcmap environment. We have a line and polygon feature classes in a topology (Not parcel fabric). To undertake spatial improvement, we replot the line dataset by COGO from a coordinated position and then rebuild the polygon feature class to match. I am trying to understand the best way to undertake this process in ArcGIS Pro parcel Fabric. In Australia we call this process "Spatial Upgrade" but it may be known by other terms internationally.

had to edit my original comment..got too hasty with my question. SO I wasn't sure if this tool was more aimed at fixing polylines instead, and was searching for suggestions on how to fix this one "region" polygon in favor it being more accurate to my county one. Thanks for the notice!
@GISChops
Жыл бұрын
Yes that would work. In fact, I usually use it for polygons instead of polylines. You may need to turn off your region layer so you are guaranteed to get the sketch from your county polygon.
@GISChops

Did you watch to the end? I demonstrate a polygon as well as a line.
@84jesterx
Жыл бұрын
@@GISChops I did. And unfortunately using the Replace tool may not be the quick fix I was hoping, unless I can select a specific area "edge", and have that section replace it's shape to the reference polygon that I want. My County layer is accurate, but there are many, and my region polygon is FAR larger and encompasses many of those counties....and that's the one I need to fix.
@GISChops
Жыл бұрын
Ah, have you watched my Align Features video? That may be your best bet. Or select all of the counties in your region, export them to a feature class, merge them together, then use that polygon to replace your bad region polygon.

I don’t have any experience with that process. But I do have experience with hiring a firm to digitize some maps and I still had to do a lot of cleanup afterwards, so it seemed like I still had to do a lot of work to get the data to a useable state. What type of map are you trying to convert?

Can we use "INTEGRATE" instead of replace geometry ?????
@GISChops

Yes, if you need to make changes to many features at once, the integrated tool might be the way to go. This video shows a trick I use to replace an old feature with a new feature with a better geometry while editing.
