Thanks a lot. It took me a while to get SSHFS installed on MacOS (lots of requirements) but in the end it worked. I was about to abandon Nvim for Visual Studio Code because of its Remote-SSH plugin.

I was thinking to abandon tmux+nvim too for VSCode's remote plugin. How's the speed of this? Is each keystroke being sent to and from remote ssh server or does it buffer the entire file? In latter case I would guess the edits would be super fast as its essentially happening locally.

I wonder if Neovim nowadays has such a functionality on it's own instead of just using SSHFS.

And it actually works!

I was about to give up tmux+neovim for VSCode because of latter's remote plugin. A question: how's the speed of editing? Does the editor block while file is being written to remote? or does it cache writes locally? I tend to save file after every 20-30 lines of code that looks clean enough. Is there a way to use mosh in the workflow, will that improve anything in this workflow of editing file with neovim?

why this and not NFS (network file system) instead ? in the rest, sounds like a really good idea.

NFS is completely unencrypted. SSHFS provides proper encryption, and obscures your password. If you've got someone snooping (for example, if you're using WIFI, it's very easy to snoop) on your network traffic, NFS is a very bad idea. EDIT: typos

I like this solution, although I'm looking for a way to use my PC as a development machine and use my Notebook just as a client to it(Use the PC resources for development)... Editing != Remote Development

Idk why, but for me this is extremely slow. Like cd and ls into the directory is 10 times (at least) slower than actually ssh-ing. Editing is faster using atom + ratom plugin... way faster. Using nvim gives persmission denied (vim works).

cause you need to establish permanent connection to speed it up
