Joe knows these historic martial arts stories (especially the Gracies) better than most. I commend him for allowing Edward to take over, and feel like he is enlightening Joe on the Gracies. Shows that Joe is a good man.

I'm reading the comments and I can't believe people are blown away that Norton is explaining this to joe. NO folks...hes brilliant! he's explaining everything to the listeners like he's telling a story. a podcast isn't just a conversation between two people. It's talking to thousands of people and breaking everything down like everyone is new to what they're talking about.

What a cool story. You could tell Ed was awestruck when meeting Rickson. His eyes light up even now when talking about Rickson. It was also great of Rickson to agree to be in the movie.

Does anyone else think joe was dying inside to say "Aikido is a bullshit martial art"

I trained with Royce and Rickson. Rorian taught us, every day. In the late 80's., I actually took my first lessons from Rorian alone and he soon trained Royce and me together. We developed moves as they were needed after practicing EVERY move we knew every day. Those guys were class acts back then and I am not surprised what they accomplished. Thanks Rorian....Tod

I'm gonna assume that Ed knows Joe "already knows this story" and is explaining this for the benefit of those listening who don't. Is that OK?

This is making me sad that Edward Norton didn’t keep playing the hulk. His take on him is so much more authentic and intense.

Norton is a great fucking great actor, and more importantly he’s a very humble guy.

Royce Grace first victory was the most incredible achievement in marcial arts, because at that time there wasn't weigh separation among fighters.

I am watching this part of conversation every time, that I get lazy about doing my ordinary, daily fitness stuff. I don't know why this is so inspiring me, but it works. I jump in my exercise routine with a big smile on my face. Thank you both for this.

I can’t be the only one that would’ve loved to see Rickson get his turn and absolutely destroy the early UFC competitions. That would be epic!
