I was stunned by the KO because Livingstone Bramble had a granite chin and was at that time considerd the best lightweight in the world not to mention was in the top five pound for pound fighter list in 1986 . +ALwayserecto: Viruet has always hated Durán and seeks to demean him by talking trash. Duran and Viruet were almost the same age when they confronted each other. Viruet ran a lot in both fights to avoid being knocked out and did not present much offensive although it made a Duran deslucir that was expected to knock him out. What Viruet must remember when praising Rosario to demean Duran is that Rosario was 13 years younger than him and was in full swing while he was already in the twilight. Rosario was 19 years old against the 32 years of Viruet. If Viruet, 32, faces 21-year-old Duran, Panamanian annihilates him and wins him more deadly than Rosario did. Viruet's suit against Rosario was very uneven.

Jose Rodriguez I had the first fight with Ramirez a draw and of course we all know what happened in the rematch. I believe Rosario had taken drugs, but he wasn't taking them before the Chavez fight. Chavez was one tough SOB and he had the best chin I've ever seen on a fighter and Chavez was right there in Rosario's grill and Rosario landed his Sunday punches and Chavez never flinched. Chavez proceeded to beat Rosario down and easily beat Rosario's other nemesis with ease, both Ramirez and Camacho. In an ironic twist of fate, during the latter part of Chavez's career, really starting after the first Taylor fight Chavez started drinking quite a bit. He was even drinking during training camp. However, for the Whitaker fight, which he lost, he was clean for a while before that fight and trained his hardest. He even said himself that he was in the best shape of his life for the Whitaker fight. Rosario knew the threat Chavez poised, no way he went into that fight on drugs and not in shape. Had he not been in shape, he wouldn't have lasted 11 rounds. Chavez would've taken him out early if that was the case. Remember Rosario shot off his mouth saying he was going to send Chavez back to Mexico in a pine box. Another thing that is interesting is that people claim Rosario's gloves were loaded for this fight and people claimed that Chavez's gloves were loaded for all his fights. Excuses, excuses!
@alkolicho
7 жыл бұрын
Certainly if Rosario had not been involved in drugs he would have defeated Chavez, Haranaka and Nazario. Rosario defeated Camacho, but was stolen by the judges in favor of Camacho. Every time Chavez lost a fight at one time his followers used the drug as excuses, but when some drug addict was defeated by Chavez, at once the same ones that justify Chavez's defeats affirm the opposite of the defeated boxer. It seems that drugs only affected Chavez, but not his adversaries who had the same vice

Bramble was a head case. After his victory over Mancini it went to his head. He became hard to deal with in camp. Began to call his own shots, felt cause he was champ that he could do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted in the Duva camp. His reign should have been longer and more defined. Gotta listen to the guys who got you there. If I’m not mistaken Duva and Bramble had already parted ways by this time. On the other hand Chavez in an interview well into retirement was quoted as saying that Rosario hit hard. It felt like he was hitting you with baseball bats. That’s Chavez talking.

Julio César Chávez dijo que CHAPO Rosario había sido el boxeador con la PEGADA más fuerte con quien se había enfrentado a pesar de que Chávez le dio una pela

Ivan Robinson had three fights with Arturo Gatti, after that he was never the same, Eric Morales had three fights with Marco Antonio Barrera, after that he was never the same, Riddick Bowe had those fights with Andrew Golota, after that he was never the same, Evander Holyfield had those three fights with Riddick Bowe, after that he really was never the same. Mickey Ward had three fights with Arturo Gatti, after that he had to retire. Fighters put their all into one fighter and lose everything.

I CAN'T believe it. ROSARIO is very heavy-handed and BRAMBLE paid for it.

Worst thing that ever happened to bramble was win the title then the crazy party life and gets destroyed by Rosario. Now Rosario wins the title and the crazy party life takes down rosario also. The old saying is true. Keeping the title is harder than winning it.

Not for Chavez he rules for 10 years without loosing 94 fights and 39 defenses still a record that will never will be broken

Why do we comment on Whitaker and Cahvez on a Rosario's fight?
That referee should never have stopped Bramble from rushing at Rosario after the bell rang to start the fight. The round starts at the bell and it is up to the fighters to defend themselves. If Rosario chose to be on his knees when the bell rang that is too bad.

RIPRICKJAMES, I remember Bramble saying he couldn't get up, the last punch he got hit with, he also got thumbed in the eye. And he was crying about not knowing what to do. But you are right, it was an excuse, I saw no thumb, it was a good punch. I agree with what you say, no argument from me.

@sydnietaina Yes...Chapo one of the most underated champions' ever. He put everything together for this fight...great foot movement.... not wasting any punches...and putting his man away when he got him hurt. Many say Bramble quit.....Those that do just can't appreciated how hard Rosario hit. Livingstone just couldn't take anymore.

btw.....I remember another Rosario, I think his name was Diego Rosario. At one time he seemed on his way to a championship, then I never again heard anything more about him....

I havent seen that on youtube, but I definitely remember it at the time, I never searched for it here, but immediately after the fight, he just flat appeared on drugs of some kind, anyway, his trainer was found to have put something in his drink, whatever it was, it juiced him big time for this one, Arguello was still a world class fighter at this time, he bent Pryor's head straight back and pryor acted as if it didnt happen, Pryor did not have a chin like that, he was on something, that helped

@KleePietro I agree the ref did a very nice job (and I am often pretty critical of them). Superb outing for Rosario. Am surprised Bramble got taken out so early. Sure he got hit, but I've seen boxers endure and even come back from far more brutal beatings. But props to ER.

Agree, Chapo was bad @ss, he used to train with us when he was really into the drugs, he was way out of shape bare footed and stinky and used to come to the gym to get tips and even tough he was out of it he hited like a mule and gave us good tips. One of my favorites..

Yeah, I thought so too. After Rosario lost to Camacho and Bramble beat Mancini there was no reason to think Rosario was gunna win. I disagree though, I thought Chapo was at the top, JC Chavez is just epic.

Rosario did better against fighter who had physical advantages. Chavez and Ramirez were just about the same size as Rosario and they destroyed him and against Bramble and Davis, Rosario was able to KO and outbox.

Too bad that most of our boxers & singers have so many demons. (Drugs & alcohol). I'm from PR and so many of them have issues with drugs & alcohol. Chapo and his brother (which some say was better than Chapo himself) both died of a drug overdose. And many, many of our Rican fighters have had the same fate unfortunately 😪😭😪

If Rosario's chin had been just a little better, we would be talking about an all time great.
