Hello MBK Upcycle. To remove the offending EEPROM chip I used a 40-watt soldering iron. However to solder into place the replacement (or new one) I applied soldering flux to the legs of the EEPROM chip. I cleaned the solder pads on the PCB with 94% IPA. I carefully placed the EEPROM chip using a magnifying lens. Then using a laser temperature gun, I decided to see how hot the low setting of the two-stage heat gun would get. It was able to attain a temp of 200 degrees C. After this test, I used the heat gun once on each side of the EEPROM chip watching the legs gently rest into place upon their respected pads of the PCB. This EEPROM chip is pre-programmed where I bought it from. Viola!! Thanks for your instructions here on KZitem.

Thanks for your feedback William. Everybody uses different techniques. There is a part 2 of this video being released tomorrow, showing how to desolder utilising ultra low melt solder. Normally in the real world, I would probably use the Hakko Hot Air to desolder, but I deliberately wrote these video's showing techniques a person could use if they did not have an arsenal of soldering equipment. Also a lot of people use "Hot Air" and cook the living daylights out of eeprom, so I do not focus on the hot air side of things too much. Cheers MBK
