I recently got a $7000 Ethernet cable and it made a major difference in my music streaming. I was recently listening to some 128kbit audio from my free pandora account, and with this new Ethernet cable, I could tell that the zeros were more rounded, and the 1's were straighter and more 1. With such an amazing level of 1ness, my 128kbit streaming audio has never sounded better. Anyway, those audiophile companies need to start designing newer and more expensive cables.

***** Vac tubes are a distortion device, ANY analog circuitry is causing distortion, ANY decent cable should have sufficient EM protection, circuitry will pick up the EM even if you cables aren't, the power from your wall is going to be distorted even if you have a conditioner, its all snake oil its so ridiculous.

+Razor2048 When I bought my TV in Currys/PC World the guy tried to sell me a HiFi HDMI cable for about £40. It's bloody digital! The display he pointed at to show the quality difference was even labelled "Freeview vs Sky" or "Freeview vs Freesat" or something. Also BS because they're all digital and they've clearly just changed the contrast settings on one TV. I almost decided not to buy the TV because I was pissed off about the BS. Your "the 1s are more 1 and the 0s are more 0" brings back the rage... Don't forget how much better a 128kbps MP3 sounds after you convert it to FLAC.

Really disappoint to hear you say that you're less inclined to make technical video's as you're "Worn out over the 1000 video's." That's the reason I'm here. I really like the technical stuff, the mailbag and gear teardowns are less interesting as you're tending towards products many people can't afford. Teardowns are interesting in their own way but ultimately are lacking in purpose. I'd much rather you stuck to the lower end gear, did technical reviews on them and also went back to the basics of electronics theory. Your project designs and builds helps us all to learn (relearn) electronics and introduces us to new and interesting parts. Please reconsider your choice of video format. Happy Christfarce to you too.

Can somebody tell me what religion has to do with electronics? Can't we all just get along? In science we trust! Let me clarify this statement a little better. Is there any doubt that dave produces some of the highest quality, and most insightful EE videos on youtube? So what does it matter what he believes ( or doesn't) in his personal life. Does his atheism invalidate his knowledge or experience? I think not. I just don't understand why people feel so threatened when offered a dissenting view point to what they believe, to the point of unsubscribing. It's truly laughable, and leads to showing the complete disregard of critical thinking skills on their part. Keep up the great work dave, I've worked through about 400 or so of your videos, and have learned immeasurable amounts of GOOD information backed with ACCURATE science, not with BS, which you get on most YT pages!

+Jonathan Campagna Probably because discussions regarding both religion and politics often result in a strong emotional response, regardless of perceived evidence for either person's position. ***** for your education, this is what Dave and I are refering to; excert from wikipedia ''The Flying Spaghetti Monster was created by Bobby Henderson in an open letter to the Kansas State Board of Education in which he parodied the concept of intelligent design. After Henderson posted the letter on his website, it became an internet phenomenon and was featured in many large newspapers, which caught the attention of book publishers'' Then he was asked to and wrote the gospel of the flying spagetti monster, a sort of parody bible . It is know now as the pastafarism. Are you smarter than a 9 year old? Seems not !! hahah

Pretty sure the scriptures of your God aren`t telling you to blindly attack people who do not think like you, so you are failing in the teaching you so vehemently defend here. Like it or not, Mr Henderson used all the bases of religions when he created his, and the pastafarism is no more refutable than any other religions. You should definitely read about it, or what pushed henderson to create it in the first place.

Dave didn't read the part of my letter where I said that to unbelievers this all seems like nonsense, I does show that God must be working in people lives since they are getting all worked up over it. It shows conviction. Actually my God loves you so much that he created the entire universe just so you would have a place to live. If you reject His invitation he is only reluctantly granting your wish and he will leave you alone. If you are still upset about it ask yourself why? I don't get anything out of it except welcoming another to the family.

+EEVblog no Dave. There is plenty of evidence, you just make your common mistake of overconfidence in spite of evidence, like when you placed the Vichy meter last when it was the most accurate. You made up fictional excuses to justify your error in judgment and you have doggedly refused to admit your many mistakes. I understand it makes you feel better to deny your many mistakes but it's just not true. You flatter yourself that you are the smart one but you are not. You invoke science as your police badge of reason yet most of the greatest men of science have had faith. Isaac Newton, Maxwell, Galileo, Descartes, Bruno, Faraday, Heisenberg, Kelvin, Planck, Copernicus, Pascal, Kepler, and Volta. Schrödinger, Oppenheimer and Tesla were spiritual and Einstein was a relaxed pantheist. Do you know how many of the physics greats have been militant atheists? not a single effing one. Dave. Not one. Dirac was briefly in his youth, Pauli made fun of him and later in life Dirac said that life might be of such complexity as to require a creator. Qualia proves our spiritual nature with absolute certainty. Try as you might, you cannot make anything physical feel pain when it should be so simple according to the secular view. And please spare me your mindless assurances that pain is already understood. Have at least a modicum of intellectual integrity and think further than that. Does bool pain=true; make pain? does a matrix multiplication? pain is not a computational artifact. I am a vastly better scientist than you, Dave, and I am a christian. Contrary to your childish belief, I am not so because it is comforting. Indeed christianity is quite a burden. Not that you would understand high minded things.

I used that thing ENDLESSLY. I took it to school and used it in my math classes. Whenever we were out and about and there was some downtime, I could just pull this thing out and practice by BASIC programming. Only ever needed one change of batteries since the 1980's! Loved it! Started collecting the other models a few years back and I'd just torn this PC-6 down a few days ago to check for leaky batteries and was very impressed by the build quality, aside from the QWERTY keyboard under the display of course. It's the time of year for family, friends and fun. One can be non-Christian and still celebrate those things, especially as the winter solstice was celebrated for thousands of years before Christianity. Much of the modern iconography of Christmas existed before long before Christianity began, anyways. Besides, celebrating the actual documented date of birth of a very important scientist and mathematician is more significant to me than the date of a maybe fictional character who the Romans changed the date of birth to suit the customs of their latests conquests.
@popcanism3636

+Antony T Curtis I never said a non Christian couldn't celebrate winter solstice. Even though winter solstice is celebrated on December 22nd or 21st not the 25th. Constantine celebrated Christ-Mass in 336 AD. Even though Christians celebrated it hundreds of years before that. Constantine adapted the celebration of "Christ-Mass" to the date of December the 25th. Please, explain how Christmas came before Christianity? If your going to celebrate' a man for his works, shouldn't you take into account his beliefs as well? Aren't a mans beliefs a part of who he is?

I don't think there is any segment of people out there with more absolute wank than the audiophile community. It's the only place in tech where lower performing, higher error/distortion is considered better, and people will pay insane money just to have it. Remember to go buy your vinyls this Christmas, because grooves on a PVC pancake are actually more capable of recording accurate audio than a digital format that can capture and play back every audible tone a human can hear! Just remember to buy the $1,500 1940s vintage record player, the $4,400 tube amp with authentic Soviet era tubes and the $55,000 Sennheiser Orpheus for the best experience!

When I worked at Hughes Aircraft R/D lab, we would call the contents of the box "floor sweepings. If there was nothing of a secret nature, we would pack it off to a local high school or junior college.

+EEVblog ATHIEST DAVE! Please be happy with the fact that some of us viewers who are Christians (insert angel "AHH AHH AHH'S" here) are here for the electronically madness and NOT the conversion... We leave that part to the voltage converters! Which isn't what you said at 35:00 but hey... we're open to our own opinion and people should respect that right?!

+Carl Aitken I find it strange that people can understand that there are electrons etc, things we can't see but can measure, and still believe in a guy in the clouds pulling the strings while checking his naughty and nice lists.

***** I think a lot of people that work in a field that directly conflicts with their religion partition their thought process so they believe reality and the religious crap to be equally valid at the same time. Indoctrination from birth is powerful.

Typical religious people. They feel harassed if you're not in the same page as they are. Which explains why they are always angry. And, I absolutely agree that christmas is nothing but a pagan festival. Both date and customs have ancient origin. Barely nothing to do with Christianity. Except its name. Happy Saturnalia.

harshbarj The "proof" is everywhere around you and you yourself. How you want to believe your life was created and everything you see that exists is up to you. I believe that everything didn't happen just by chance as atheists think. Rather God created it for us.

Faith, as in accepting things without evidence. Always amusing they resort to faith seeing that it's unjustifiable from a rational point of view.

Curious about the Subaru occupancy sensor... in my 2013 Subaru, if I put an iPad (with magnets) on the seat, it thinks someone is sitting there. It's failed to detect someone sitting in the seat at least once, too.

To all those *so-called* Christians hating on Dave because of the Christmyth comment. Christmas is mentioned nowhere in the Bible, neither is Jesus birthday. It is a recycled pagan holiday by a man who was also far from Christian. Do your research. There is however a load of scriptures that condemn any participation in pagan worship. Then on top of it, Christmas today is highly commercialized. Commercializing Christianity, also far from Christian, didn't Jesus throw merchants out of the temple? So if you claim you're Christian and you celebrate a commercialized, recycled pagan holiday, you're at best ignorant and at worst a hypocrite. And ironically, in this regard Dave is WAY more Christian that you!

Dave, speaking of Hoverboards, there are nowadays these cheap, Chinese pseudo-Segway-knockoffs that like to be called "hoverboard" (but still roll on wheels like anything else), and I've just read about one igniting a house in Australia, because they are apparently very insecurely constructed. Could you obtain such a beast and tear it down and show where exactly the dangers are?? This would be awesome!

Hi, I've been a big fan of the EEVblog for some time now but I must say I find the christmyth comments very distasteful. If you don't believe, how ever unfortunate that is, it is unnecessary and immature to insult your viewers. Without your viewers the EEVblog would not exist. Stick to what you do best - electronics.

No one can or has to prove why they believe in something. I believe in order and chaos. When I'm dead my energy will be used elsewhere. And if as a non believer im off to hell then so be it, at least i be in good company. If I was god i would have not created the mosquito. Happy Christmas in our house is a celebration of giving gifts and family togetherness. Not once has he holy spirit or Jesus popped round for a beer. Anyone else seen any representatives of god these days who ain't collecting big cash or preying on the weak. Like Dave says we all can believe what we want. Order and Chaos.
