Hey all, here is the fourth episode of a new series that we have been working on called "Learn How with Pacific Angler", which focuses on slightly more advanced fishing techniques in British Columbia. We got a couple more long fishing episodes coming up in October and November, stay tuned! :) Rod

👍great video, and great idea! I've used perfection loops to make loop to loop connections between my tapered leader and tippet before for quick fly changes, but I like the tippet ring /clasp idea

Another nice bead hook is the Owner "Mosquito" black nickel style. Owner sells bulk packages and I think there are 64 #10 hooks in a package. I buy them on Ebay for $15.00. They have nice gape width for the size and the eye is just slightly upturned.

This works for steelhead as well. I caught my first steelhead on the fly using an egg rig while fishing for bull trout.

Hi David, depending on where you are located, most tackle stores should have them. This was filmed at Pacific Angler in Vancouver, so of course they have them for sale there. All the other tackle stores in the Greater Vancouver area should have them.

I love using beads but in PA since many of the hookups are on the outside of the mouth it is considered snagging and illegal.
@FishingwithRod

Matt, certainly that can be a concern. I think regulations prohibit the intent of snagging fish, whereas this method which is designed to minimize injuries should not be regarded as illegal. The fish are still biting onto the presentations, the hook placement might be outside the mouth, but it does far less harm than a throat hooked fish.

Rod, I agree but I recently learned that PA considers pegged beads, where the hook is a few inches below the bead, to be an illegal tactic because it "snags" the steelhead outside the mouth (sometimes) and if a conservation officer sees you fishing beads he will write you a citation.

Hello. What is the ratio of beads to bait? For example, bait 15-16 mm., Beads 8-10 mm.

I'm not totally sure what you are asking.

@@FishingwithRod I inquire about whether the size of the bead depends on the size of the bait?
@FishingwithRod
3 жыл бұрын
@@user-be5kw4tn1p Absolutely. You want to match the size of the bead to the size of the eggs, as well as the colours. It makes a big difference.
@user-be5kw4tn1p

@@FishingwithRod Do I understand correctly that the size of the bead does not match the size of the egg? Is the bead smaller than an egg? If so, how much? For example, an egg is 15-16 mm., What size of a bead?
@FishingwithRod

@@user-be5kw4tn1p No I’m saying the beads need to match the eggs

I'm pretty sure Pacific Angler has them in store. Otherwise you could order from Cabelas or Amazon.
