The ultimate "Mr Cool"; I loved him as Stu Bailey in "77 Sunset Strip". I hope they bring back the series.

Discovered recently the 77 Sunset Strip TV series, it's not brilliant, but it is very representative for a certain era, and therefor from that perspective interesting to see. Trying to understand what it was that made it so popular in the late fifties, early sixties. The series actually permantently looks like ads for Palmoliven Pepsodent, Max Factor and Camel, not to mention for the cars starring too in this series. Without being briljant, the series was interesing enough to make me look up E Zimbalist Jr (what a long name), and found out to my amazement that he only died this year, just a few weeks ago in fact. "Only", because the man apparantly reached his 95th birthday, even if he was supposed to smoke a lot in the series. Another interesting fact mentioned by Wikipedia was that, before he was able to play FBI agent, he was screened by the FBI, and interviewed by Hoover, who seemed to like him very much. In fact, they became vezry good friends, until Hoover's death. The series apparantly was seen as a very good PR for the Bureau, which therefor honoured Zimbalist jr. with a plaque.
