Incredible fact: Os came back to rugby because Rassie asked him to come back to the Cheetahs. Rassie was a player at the Cheetahs and coaching the Vodacom cup side. In 2005, Rassie was now the head coach and in the Currie Cup final started Os on the bench and he came on to play the last 30 mins (I imagine as an early day bomb squad player). Cheetahs scored in the final 10 mins to win 29-25 against the Bulls at Loftus. How much do we owe to Rassie? (3 world cups?) 🤷🏻♂️

What I love about this line-up is that it focuses more on the integrity of players; what they bring outside of their skills on the field. I used to think that Kolisi was simply a mouthpiece for SA and their struggles but I have been proven wrong in his recent post-match interviews. Yes, he is an important spokesman BUT he 100% believes what he says and the message he sends to his country and his fans is gold dust. Arguably the best captain rugby has ever seen.

This question is fascinating, depending on age you are going to get varied answers as people will respond from their experiences and memory. The players that has gripped my imagination in the lore of SA rugby is Frik du Preez, Danie Gerber, Pieter-Steph du Toit and Schalk Burger. A bias towards loose forwards I realise. Frik comes from the lore of days gone by, Danie was my first awakening to rugby as a youngster, and the rest is modern warriors.

Hi Tim check this out. When the stars align and its destiny The following is something that cant be scripted - it was destined to be SA beat FRA by 1 SA beat ENG by 1 SA beat NZ by 1 This gives you 111. If you add the numbers 29-28, 16-15, and 12-11 together, then it gives you 111. It was also Ref Wayne Barnes last test match he refereed and it was testmatch # 111 In cricket 111 is referred to as a Nelson also a name that reminds us of our past president that inspired the 95 Boks - Nelson Mandela Let’s break down the word “springbok” letter by letter and assign each letter a number based on its position in the alphabet: s = 19 p = 16 r = 18 i = 9 n = 14 g = 7 b = 2 o = 15 k = 11 Now, let’s add the numbers together: 19 + 16 + 18 + 9 + 14 + 7 + 2 + 15 + 11 = 111 The total sum of the numbers representing the word “springbok” is 111. What a wonderful coincidence or destiny that was meant for the springboks an incredible event in History

The four most influential and important people in South African rugby in the modern era are Nelson Mandela, whithout whom the Springbok and possibly even South African rugby would have died a slow painful death. Francois Pienaar for winning the first world cup and uniting a country and understanding Mandela's vision. Rassie Erasmus and Siya Kolisi, who together have reinvented South African rugby and put it back on top of the world with inventive thinking and exceptional leadership.
