Nice demo of the versatile Trangia cook system. The way it holds the pan and pots in place makes it easier to cook with than with most other systems. You can stir and mix without fear of the cookware sliding off the burner. I use mine for car camping and emergency home use. Also glad to see you put the brass burner back in the plastic bag before storing in the aluminum pot. Prevents the two metals from reacting with each other, causing damage during long term storage.

Your Trangia is so nice and clean... My 27-5 is filthy and scratched as it has hundreds of hours of cook time over the 4yrs I have had it, and it still works as good as new :) 3yrs ago I made a couple batches of homemade tomato sauce from my homegrown organic Heirloom Brandywine tomatoes. With the simmer-ring in place I was able to get over 90min cooktime per fill of the Trangia burner! The sauce was perfect! Great Video! Now I'm hungry :)

That was good. If you cut the potatoes to the desired size first they cook quicker and you don’t burn your fingers trying to cut hot taties 👍

Also, bring the water to the boil with the potatoes in so the outside doesn't over cook whilst the centre is undercooked.

A nice video. I wonder how long it took you to prepare the meal? My only complaint with my trangia is that it takes a long time to heat anything when I am "in the field" so I only use it for making noodle dishes. When I am indoors, it is a lot easier to make more elaborate things. Thanks for posting this.

Not sure if it was mentioned earlier in the comments but I would stick with a plastic bottle for your fuel... Methyl Hydrate or HEET (Yellow) will react with metal (corrode) and the pressure might also be an issue (if it gets warm). I use a square Nalgene container.

Are you letting your burner transition to where the flames are coming out the tiny holes. Looks like a regular burner. Otherwise the burner uses much more fuel,and produces less heat, than when it is just burning up through the big hole.

We live in the woods and our power goes out from time to time. It's too much work to get the wood stove going & too much wood. Sterno does not get water boiling very well... so for those "Bug In" emergencies... this Trangia set up looks like the way to go for a spot of Tea and basics in emergency situations.
@NewHampshireJack

Well Stefan, if this counts for anything, I am American. I have lived the past 5 1/2 years in the Philippines. I used to cook on a wood stove most of the time in the US. Now, in semi-retirement, I use an ALOCS alcohol stove (I like the simmer ring on this stove) and a small stainless steel wood gasifier when out an about. It may be in the jungle or out on an island but trust me, man, we are NOT in the home kitchen.
