I also have an Ego 4ah battery from November 2016 and was doing the same thing with the flashing red light. So I messed with it and this is what happened. I held the battery button for 5-10 seconds in hope of resetting the battery’s electronics. This had no effect. Then I pressed and held the battery button while placing it on the fast charger, continuing to hold the battery button for several seconds after putting it on the charger. THIS WORKED!! I’m not sure of the how or why, but the battery began a normal charge, finished the charge, and we just got through using it in the lawnmower with no noticeable problems. Please give this a try and see if any of you get lucky or, maybe, this is some sort of a reset. Love to hear your results.

I have this battery for my Ego leaf blower. For months now, after the machine would be unused for about a week or so, the machine would start briefly, then shut off. I wait a feww moments, pull the trigger and it would shut off again. It was so intermittent, but eventually it would work smoothly. Today, it just didn't get beyond the start/shut off cycle DOZENS of times. I treied your sokution of putting the battery on the charger and holding the battery button for several seconds. IT WORKED !! Thank you, my friend. 🤓

Amazing. This got my battery to work. I had to use the slow charger, that came with the battery, as my fast charger didn't work.

This is my experience with EGO warranty service. After several attempts to get them on the phone then 2 days of testing and confirming a defective 7.5 amp battery for my Mower they said that they would replace it, wow that's great I thought. Going on 5 weeks so far and I have not received it, no stock they claim yet retailers are fully stocked with EGO products. EGO Warranty Service is TERRIBLE! and if you need their help you can go for weeks if not months before you get to use your tools again. I would not recommend buying EGO products because if you need Service from EGO they will drag their feet when it comes to repair or replacement. Not a good purchase if you ask me.

I followed Elexman KC's advice and it worked for my battery! I ended up holding the battery button for 60 seconds (holding for 5-10 seconds didn't fix the problem) before I placed the battery on the charger while still holding the button for a few seconds. Thanks Elexman!

I would go to Home Depot and buy the snowblower with 2 of the 7.5 amp batteries for 800 then sell just the snowblower on eBay for 400 and keep the batteries it gets you an extra battery for 50 bucks

The packs are made up of 14 x 18650 Li-Ion cells in series. If you have a single cell Li-Ion charger, you can find the cells that are low (but not dead) and jump across to them, and may revive them. You want to get them all to the same voltage though, so may need to charge each cell (or pair etc) to full. It will take some time but might get you some more life out of the pack. You'll need a volt meter to.

I left my EGO 7.5 Amp Hr in the sun, when I went to use it, it failed, flashing red light, I expect it sensed an over temp. I try the 5-10 second reset no go then the 60 reset and all is good. Thanks All

I have had Snapper 60 volt/Greenworks 60 volt batteries 🔋 for the same amount of time and NONE of those batteries have failed on me. It might have to do with the machines I use them with... all or most of the machines I use them in have brushless motors. I’m not sure what kind of motors EGO uses In the equipment that I bought from them...But in my book going brushless and going with snapper 60v or greenworks 60v is better if you are going to want to use the equipment for commercial use. Not as your main equipment, but to supplement your gas ⛽️ equipment. Like a hybrid system if you will.

Get someone to repack the battery. They can use better cells(higher amp hour rating) and you'll have a new battery.

i am in the same boat as you. have you tried to lightly hit or drop the unit to the floor to see if it somehow turn green? i know i sound stupid but i did that myself and it appeared it would work in most cases especially when it was just fully charged and started to die or turn red after mowing for 15 minutes. in my case,i took out the battery and gently hit the battery to hard surface and the button turned green again. if you have tried that then perhaps it is the end of the shelf life. i hope this "stupid" idea may work and get you a few more round of usage out of the battery.

The battery is past the warranty period. It is over 3 years and it seems he has been using them commercially which has a shorter warranty period. I would have returned the mower and batteries when purchased because they were already 3 years old then unless he got a huge bargain price.

I saw a video of a guy jumping dead batteries but I think its pretty dangerous and not really a fix. I would take it appart maybe try to fix it you probably need a battery welder... so probably not worth it. but keep the good cells you can probably use them later with a solar setup.

Do the math and figure out if the cost of a new battery is less than the cost of gas over the three year period. You might be surprised.

It’s much, much more. I used to use 2-3 gallons of fuel a year for yard maintenance with a blower, mower, and trimmer. Figure ten bucks. But I’ll never buy gas again the rest of my life now, so it’s worth it. Even if you ran a landscaping company with Ego batteries, the break-even point for a $300-500 battery is very far into the future. And you would probably need another one after 3-4 years of degradation, or less.
