This journey into Egypt begins in Upper Egypt, the south, where the Nile River enters the country. In order to control the seasonal flooding, the Aswan High Dam was built to control the river and also increase the hydroelectric power in the region. Because of the anticipated flooding incurred before the dam was built and the resulting destruction of many Nubian villages and archeological sites, UNESCO and other agencies came together and accomplished an amazing feat.... raising these heavy temples and interiors to higher ground (as in Abu Simbel). The history of Egypt and the Nile valley has been documented for ages. So many stories have been told in the hieroglyphics in tombs and archeological sites from the south of Egypt all the way to the Mediterranean, in Alexandria (where this video ends). I hope you will enjoy my experience as I traveled to Egypt in 2010, and have been eager to re-visit Egypt currently in February of 2018 (exactly ten year ago). Egypt and my visit there has caused me to continually want to visit this wonderful land in my memories and in making this video, I have been rewarded with so many memories of visiting in 2010. I am not an archeologist, but if one travels to Egypt, keep in touch with new discoveries under the sands of the desert!
