Loved it. Was there in Dec. needs a bit of a face lift so hopefully after the GEM opens it will get some TLC.

I was there in December too, and I already saw improvements this trip, so hopefully the renovations will continue. Thanks for watching!

I highly recommend the original Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square if you only visit one. If you want to see two museums, then I recommend adding the NMEC, or potentially the GEM.

Have a great trip! My top choice is the original (old) Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. It still has the best amount of artifacts. If you really want to see mummies of famous pharaohs, then see the NMEC, but I wouldn’t skip the original Egyptian Museum for the NMEC. And my last choice is the GEM. There just isn’t enough on display yet to make it worth a stop, unless you have 3-4 days in Cairo.

Are there any sites in Cairo that aren’t hounded with scammers/hagglers. I intend to get a few guided tours around the city but I would love to go on my own to a couple of spots without being harassed (I ended up given in Marrakesh due to the volume of people trying to get my money off me). I’m a solo traveller and like not exactly tall or macho so it’s not easy for me to just say no or ignore.

To me, the worst sites for this in Cairo are the Giza Plateau and Khan el Khalilii. So, if you only want a private guide/private driver for one day, at least do those two sites with them. Otherwise the other sites around Cairo are not too bad, just always remember to not talk to anyone who approaches you unless they are a uniformed military or police officer (or a plainclothes officer who shows you paperwork or who is working with uniformed officers). No one in Egypt (at least in 11 years I have been going) will do more than just talk or get in your personal space as long as you ignore them-it’s when you engage (saying no thanks, stopping, etc.) that the hassle increases. Just keep walking, ignore, don’t make eye contact, and after a minute, you’ll be left alone.

For female travelers though, I have heard the hassle is worse, so teaming up with a travel buddy or using a private guide during your time in Egypt is what most women I’ve talked to recommend.

Where is tut mask and tut mummy ?
@EgyptAdventuresTravel

The mask is at the museum in this video (for now). There are no photos or videos allowed inside, so I couldn’t show it. The mummy is in King Tut’s Tomb in the Valley of the Kings.

Great informative videos on Egypt - I’m visiting at the end of October, and am worried there is going to be nothing left in the Egyptian Museum! I am hoping at least King Tuts mask will still be there when I visit 🤞🏻

Thank you for watching my videos! This is a very common misconception, and one that I directly address in this video. Everything you saw in this video, except the Tutankhamun objects, will stay at the Egyptian Museum in downtown Cairo. So from what you saw in this video, only about a dozen objects will no longer be there. There will still be thousands of objects left to see. Hope that helps clear up this common misconception people have about the GEM versus the Egyptian Museum!

Thanks for confirming - looking forward to Egypt, just watched your video on how to get from Downtown Cairo to the Pyramids! I do have one further question - do you buy tickets for the Cairo Tower at the tower? I can’t seem to find any official online website for the tower.

The seated king is Khafre, not Mencaure....And don't miss the room with the treasures from Tanis, with the golden mask of Psusennes II right next to the Tutankhamun Jewelery room.

Yes, although they may make you buy an additional ticket, which is around $5. Certain galleries, like the Tutankhamun Mask gallery, and the Psusennes I gallery do not allow any photography.
