Thank you for the video, it's great. What is the pedal you use to save the presets for the Nemesis and Ventris? I didn't quite get it.

This video was helpful. Thanks. Considering the EHX and wondering how easy it might be as a first MIDI device. Can you avoid the separate midi box and just do MIDI through on the pedals that take that for preset switching?
@insomniakidmonkey
5 жыл бұрын
Alex Breyer you can but the Quartz cab send multiple midi messages per preset where the EHX can only do one midi message per preset
@insomniakidmonkey

Alex Breyer the EHX will only do 1 midi channel, 1 program change, 1 Custom message per preset.

Very nice video boss!! I have couple of questions. I'm thinking to build a new pedalboard with boss 200 series pedals the od200 md200 dd200 rv200 and ir 200. Firstly Is the Ehx super switcher better than boss es5 and secondly how to connect them to the controller so that i can use midi functionality. Do i need to connect every pedal in loop cause thats what the main thing is and after that controlling the preset and parameters change through midi

As far as functionality, the ES-5 is a better pedal. It has a computer editor and I believe you can rearrange effects order. The only downside is the buffer isn’t great quality. My only quarks with the Super Switcher is that the switches don’t have silent switches and that you have to bend over and manually turn knobs to set up the midi. As far as midi goes, you can daisy chain the midi in/out of each pedal and leave them out of the loop and in series in the chain.

I'm considering buying one. So I will need two cables per each pedal - from the switcher to the In of the pedal, and then output to return of the switcher, right? What cables did you use, where did you buy them? They look very thin and easy to bend
@insomniakidmonkey

I used lava soldered mini elf cables. They were not very bendy. Get something like Mogami 2319. Yes each pedal would hook up to a send and return jack.

I just got mine hooked up, the only thing I really don’t like is you have to have all your pedals on all the time, I love having a silent rig but I’m hearing hum and noise now with the same pedals I had before using this, and yes I’m using a noisegate running all the time.
@insomniakidmonkey

Christopher Beam that sounds like a power supply issue. When the loop that a pedal is connected to isn’t engaged, that pedal is completely taken out of the loop. You should be getting less noise.

insomniakidmonkey im still working on it, my power supply is great and super quiet, It’s the Walrus Pheonix one, it was super quiet without it. But I’m gonna troubleshoot before I give up! Thx!

Does it allow for reverb and delay tails when you bypass the loop?
@insomniakidmonkey
5 жыл бұрын
Doctor McFarland Studios it does if you use the midi to bypass. The loopers will just remove it from the loops all together. Really you can add 8 different effects to the switcher and just have the midi toggle your delay and reverb settings.

Unfortunately not which was a huge bummer because the guy doing the EHX interviews about the SS at NAMM said it could do that and switch loop order. However if the reverb or delay that you're using runs off of midi you can use the SS to send signals to bypass the pedal and if that pedal has the option to have tails upon being bypassed than you can leave its' loop signal open and get a tail that way.

What size is your pedalboard? 30x18? That’s a giant switcher
@insomniakidmonkey
5 жыл бұрын
MrHallcore 28x18. The switcher is the same size of the PBC. To answer your earlier question about the Quartz. The Quartz can control tempo of multiple pedals at once so my nemesis, canyon delay, and tremolo. Also, the Quartz is super intuitive, and can send multiple midi messages where the EHX cab only send one midi message per preset.

Nice video! How are you satisfied so far with the Super Switcher? I didn't hear any pops or noise when you switched between presets, however, on all NAMM videos I saw there is a noticable noise whenever the presenter switches different presets. I wonder if you experienced this problem? I would also like to know how is the feel of the switches? I own a couple of EHX pedals and their switches tend have that harder feel comparing to the rest...
@insomniakidmonkey

The switches are soft tap switches. They don’t click. Overall I’ve been very happy (especially for the price), but I probably wouldn’t like it as much if I didn’t have the Quartz to help out.

How to get rid of that crazy hum
@insomniakidmonkey

Yeah, I’ve got a new board set up that has zero noise now (There’s a video of it in my channel). The Voodoo Labs Pedal Power II and II plus are very picking on which pedals are near them. My new board uses Truetone CS12 and it fixed all of my noise issues.

OMG man, get a noise killer with that single-coil mess. Plus sounds like every patch you hit the signal mutes out, is that standard for it to do that?
@insomniakidmonkey
3 жыл бұрын
Actually the single coil wasn’t the problem. It was my power supply. I had my effects on top of the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2+ and it does bad with effects being too close to it. Also my wiring was a mess with this set up. I’ve changed my board since then and use the CS12 power supply by Truetone and cleaned up my wiring. Now I have zero noise with any pickups I use unless I have 3 plus drives on. I sold the switcher too. I need notice sound drops when I switched on this video unless I press the same switch twice.
