It's weird to think about Albert Einstein's intelligence and mind when you also know that they took his brain out and looked at it as a piece of matter no more significant than dirt. The mind and our intelligence that consists in our brain is truly something amazing. How did something such as a brain ever become so sophisticated and complicated in its design from the simple soil of the ground? It is truly amazing such intelligent design and function can consist of organics. I truly believe there is more intelligent life out there that designed us. The universe is a closed system to this intelligence as a hard drive with its data is also a closed system to our world.

Einstein is one of my favorite people of all time, but I think they're giving him WAY too much credit for this one. Scientists, engineers, economists etc (i.e. anybody who uses applied mathematics to model/describe an aspect of reality) adds or factors in constants into their equations all the time. This is just a basic/common strategy in model building that goes back long before Einstein. In other words, even if Einstein would have never made this famous blunder, someone else would have EASILY conjured up the idea to add in an extra constant into the modern physics equations to account for this new observation.

Hey tech Insider I have a doubt......If spacetime is getting streched and the universe is expanding, does that mean every point in the universe is expanding? If so then is the distance between the Sun and the Earth increasing? Please do answer this is a serious doubt

The answer is variable. The best way to think of it is like a Sphere made of rubber. The Sphere is tightly compacted, but it has movement inside of it. When the Sphere expands, the gaps between the material inside increase, but the movement means something can get closer at the same time. So Matter expands, but the objects themselves can get closer or move farther away. As we are not that far on the edge of the Universe from what we know, we experience little expansion, which would take a few billion or so years to notice, so the Sun's distance is increasing, but at an incredibly small rate, that it is unnoticeable and have very little effect on the Sun or anything. But there is that chance that we move closer to the sun faster than Matter's expansion, so possibly the distance is decreasing.

Why a equation can show how space is look like? I mean how???
@Rayan_Iolanthe
7 жыл бұрын
Equations and their subsequent values may seem simple, but are actually complex. Think about the simple Average. It Takes all the values into account and creates a value that is estimated to be the truest value of the numbers. That's pretty complex, but simple. Then you have equations like Standard Deviation, which when values are plugged in, it gives a value that represents how close the values of a data set are to the average. I don't know the basics of this Einstein equation, but I'm assuming that it gives a value that when compared to a base value/values, can show the trend, and by showing a trend, can show a prediction. Like how the average is a prediction, the value of this Equation is a prediction, and so if proved true by other evidence, it can show how the maths interacts, in this case it shows how each value works together to expand the universe. It's all about representation of Data and predictions/.

Can someone explain me when Einstein said the universe might be expanding and added the Cosmological member, which gives an outward push? It works only when the universe in contacting right? Or is this cosmological member outward or an inward push? I'm confused!
@DoraKeKk

The guy in the video said that the cosmological members gives an outward push to the inward gravity so that it stabilizes it and so hence the the universe is static but if universe is expanding either the outward push i.e cosmological member must be wayyyy stronger than gravity so it doesn't not stabilize gravity so the universe is expanding (lol all I wrote after but is what I could think of,just read and throw it out of your mind),someone in comments said that "that tha cosmological member is now known as dark matter"

Free will for all. Have it your way if earthy passions are more important. No person should judge that's for sure. The inheritance of sin is with us all and if we don't know that how could we ascend. This is very misleading. Friedmann published a paper proving that Einstein had made a Mathematical mistake in his calculations, and that the Einstein Field Equation already predicted a static or expanding or contracting Universe even without the Cosmological Constant. To be clear, it's either expanding at a decelerating rate or contracting at an accelerating rate. Einstein allegedly called it his 'biggest blunder' as the Cosmological Constant seemed unjustified and ugly, and he felt that he should not have put it in at all. However, it was only until the 1990s that a team of astrophysicists found out that the Universe is expanding at an ACCELERATING rate, which meant that the Cosmological Constant was not zero and that it has a positive value (to act as an 'anti-gravitational force'). They later won the Nobel prize in Physics in 2011 for their discovery. So in conclusion, the Cosmological Constant was introduced by Einstein purely out of carelessness and was pretty much ignored and was assumed to be zero for decades until the discovery of the Universe's accelerating expansion. The Cosmological Constant was there purely out of a coincidence.

- Well the universe was originally moving towards a static constant (aka coming to an halt). - And that was a problem even the Heaven realized, so there was a high ranking Angel who let himself fall to “stir up the muddy and stall water” and bring back some movement into it (aka universe expanding). - In a far future time our evolved species together with our predecessors will have been grown to the “job” (or will have the urgent need) to “deflate” the universe back (another movement but this time in the opposite direction). Now, fom that story above you can make three different equations, and all would be right. So Einstein was right when he was right and he was even right when he was seemingly wrong. How comforting. 😅

Brian Greene you are wrong! Einstein when he came up with special and general relativity did not know if the universe was expanding nor did he know if it was contracting due to gravity. So to cover his A$$ he devised 3 different postulates. 1; The universe was expanding. 2; The universe's expansion was slowing down because of gravity. 3; The universe was collapsing inward upon itself because of gravity which he claimed the universe would eventually end up in what he referred to as a big crunch. Mind you, he never had conformation until later what was actually happening in the universe. Observations first showed that the universe was expanding, see Edwin Hubble's work where he discovered nearby galaxies to be moving away from us instead of moving towards us, which coincidentally led to the big bang theory. That is when Einstein came up with the idea of a cosmological constant. He figured that because galaxies were moving away from us per the laws of motion, once in motion always in motion that his cosmological constant was a safe bet. Later more observations confirmed that not only was Einstein wrong about gravity causing galaxies to move towards our galaxy (big crunch) but that the galaxies were accelerating away from us faster with distance. Meaning Einstein's cosmological constant was wrong too. It wasn't such a safe bet after all. That is why Einstein said it was his biggest blunder. If anyone understood Einstein's equations was Einstein himself! If the universe were expanding exponentially with distance then the expansion of space would not be considered a constant. I guess you have to be an 'Einstein' to understand that. Brian Greene apparently doesn't understand Einstein's equations. Then Hubble came up with the Hubble constant, claiming that space was expanding exponentially at a specific set rate to distance and that this rate should be the same no matter which direction or distance one was observing. And just recently the Hubble constant was found to be in error. The expansion rate was different for several galaxies that are located the same distance away from us, but in different directions. Get this, the numerical value for Einstein's cosmological constant was zero in his equations because it was not accelerating nor was it be slowing down, the movement was a constant, hence it's name! How can a zero value today explain the exponential expansion of space? It cannot thus every physicist or astrophysicist who insists that the cosmological constant is a means to describe the exponential expansion of space has no idea what they are even talking about! A zero value for the cosmological constant cannot produce a plus value, cause space to expand at an exponential rate with distance!
