For the very first time since it’s inception 20 years ago, the Mr. Soshanguve title comes with a car as the main prize. For Daniel, who finds male pageants the cheesiest, most embarrassing things human beings have ever created, the pageant presents an easy way to finally put his taxi-taking to an end and finally get his very own car. Daniel secretly enters Mr. Soshanguve hoping that it will be a slightly painful sacrifice that will result in a now very desperately needed life-long benefit. He is forced to deal with rivalry, talent competitions, muscles and a group of men arguably more committed and determined than him. This is coupled with increasing attention to the pageant because of this big prize; and rumours of a famous kwaito star coming to perform at the gala event at the Soshanguve Town Hall, drawing community interest detrimental to Daniel’s mission. Will Daniel see the pageant through or will he bow out?
