For the long term future and vision of Nigeria and its people, this has been long over due. As an investor, I would reccomend all Nigerians outside of Nigeria to cease this opportunity. Any project of this magnitude should also accomodate an afordable housing scheme for key sector workers such as school teachers, emergency services etc. This project focuses on residential, commercial, tourism and transportation links which ticks all boxes for property investors. I'm in full support!!

@muncasteroger Actually Dubia was built from the ground up in 30 years without any previous investment, Eko is a self sustaining city, am sure people who visit there will have nothing to do with mainland Lagos or even Victoria island. Just like people who visit dubia have nothing to do with mainland UAE.

@muncasteroger Maybe so, but this is a private funded project. As Nigerians, we should think more positive. Look at this as a turning point. As Nigerians today, we can boast about are fellow citizen, Adebayor Ogunlesi owning Gatwick and London City Airports. We have Aliko Dangote a billionaire in the Forbes Rich List, Nollywood as the 2nd largest producer of movies after Bollywood, one of the fastest growing economies. The list goes on. Give them the benefit of the doubt.

If I hear this man correctly, he said just the land reclamation will take 6yrs? That is ridiculous. I do know of the concerns of others about electricity and the like but if this is being funded privately assuming the money is there y not increase the pace of all this and get it done in 3 or less? The longer it takes the less enthusiasm there is for such projects. I dont care about the reclamation, I care that those buildings are built. These building would pay for themselves.

@muncasteroger The rich will pay taxes and those taxes will help the government of Lagos. People will get jobs by building the place and when it is built people will get jobs. This will also attract tourism and will increase the money coming into Lagos.

Why not they use the money they're using to build this Eko Atlantic to fix-up Lagos and other parts of Nigeria? SMH. Waste of money i tell you. These leaders just want the easy way out. So what happens when "Eko Atlantic" becomes choas? Will they build another city?

@muncasteroger This project will attract investment which, in turn, will create jobs and infrastucture to support them. The things that you mention as Nigeria's needs don't materialize out of thin air. This project is being paid for out by private investment, so the government reaps the rewards of this outside investment. This will in turn spark potential growth in manufacturing and tourism which can diversify the source of Nigeria's GDP away from oil. Fashola knows what he's doing.

@debidebs1 In terms of affordability, inevitably it'll benefit the ppl who have money to invest in these developments. As nfor creating jobs, it would be beneficial to the white-collar workers/ blue-collar workers. It will boost trade & tourism within the Eko Atlantic Region, this is nothing new, other countries have been doing it for yrs. My only concerns, is that it does not create opportunities that'll exploit the poor at the expense of wealthy tourists who create a sex haven for all!

Zzzzz...VI and Ikoyi is covered in the moss covered concrete skeletons of many an ambitious project. This as well will come to nothing. But well done to the developers and designers for already stuffing their pockets. Contractors and thus the labour force will not see a kobo.

Too much negativity. Nigeria is not paying for this. And as for the other things such as fixing up Lagos, Fashola has been doing that as well. But this project will cost Nigeria and Lagos nothing and create jobs. It will boost Lagos' economy and make more Nigerians living there more prosperous. You cannot eliminate poverty in one fell swoop. You must create the conditions necessary for poverty to be alleviated.
