Sheksna is a river in the Vologda region of Russia, a left tributary of the Volga. The length is 139 km, the area of the drainage basin is 19 thousand km². The annual flow is 5.42 km³. It starts from the White Lake and flows into the Rybinsk reservoir. The area along the banks of the river is called Poshekhonye.
Until the middle of the 20th century, the river had a length of about 395 km, but at present it has survived as a river only on a small segment from the village of Sheksna to the city of Cherepovets (these are the largest settlements on it), since the upper course of the river is flooded by the Sheksna reservoir, and the lower one by the Rybinsk reservoir ... A small section of the old channel of the Sheksna in Rybinsk has also been preserved at its historic mouth - between the Rybinsk hydroelectric power station and the Volga, where it flowed into it before the appearance of reservoirs.
